It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Strife mentioned this "game" elsewhere.  I'd seen the OP before, but it didn't look important to me.  I fired it up out of curiosity.

How did I not know about this before?

It's like a box of dirt-colored Legos I can walk around in!  Man, I was digging rooms and building huts and shit, then I found a cave and I was all like "This. Is. Righteous."  And then fuck me is that magma!?

Ah, a year and a half ago.  When everything was bright green, and ores and enemies were a distant concept.  Strife26 got me into it, but I don't remember how, I think I just asked him about it.

And damn, my TinyPic links are still alive.  Check out that terrain.

We also have records of payments to Mojang before he even supposedly "founded" it ;P

I heard about it from this thread.

Same, and then I pirated the infdev version, MC was in Alpha at the time.

Also, OptiFine's updated, for anyone who uses it.

I can't remember where I first heard about MC but it was likely this thread. I know I started before indev but only bought it when indev was "released".

That Optifine mod seems to be working. I'm getting roughly the same performance while running Firefox and downloading something on Steam as I did with everything turned off before installing.

I just had a look at the reddit thing by the yogscast, and it seems that mojang is falling into that (not in there yet) category of dickish companies that act as if they own absolutely ANYTHING that involves their game.
I hope they get out of that pit before they get stuck there.
There does not appear to be any evidence of this. There are many dick moves one can call onto Mojang, but this isn't one of them.

It feels kinda odd seeing how people react to this. A whole lot of spouting about Professionalism and regarding it as a huge company. It still feels to me like Notch and some buddies helping him out with making games. Highly emotional comments through twitter, unofficial statements, challenging people to Quake games, all sounds like fine things for an individual who is laid back and not too into being a company.

I probably need to move on and accept that they are a company now and need to be professional. This mindset is putting me in the same category as hardcore blind fanboyism.

You don't need to be professional to be a company. Just be professional in public.

Erm...

Everything regarding the game IS owned by them.

According to every video game law I've heard of, when you mod their game the mod is their property and they can do with it whatever they please.

Just how it works, man. :P I don't get why people complain about having their mods used in the main game. You're making an alteration to someone else's property. If they like it they can keep it, and you can't say shit. If you wanted profit, you could have charged for the mod. If you want recognition, well, you can always send an email or letter with the info on the mod and asking to be credited with its creation, or some such.

Point is, mods are to make the game more entertaining. The mod is NOT your legal property, and it in fact DOES belong to the game's source company.

half-asleep and nonsensical, but you get the point I hope.

^If there is one word that can sum up that post, it's this:

wrong.

Unless explicitly stated in the EULA that it is their property, it is not.

then again, it depends on some factors:
first off if the mod is to be payed or not.
if it's to be payed, then it's illegal.
it's copyright.
otherwise, a mod of a game, which is free to download and install...i believe it's like fanfiction.
(i think it's quite actually the same thing)
nobody goes and closes off all fanfiction sites of various movies, books and the like, because firstly they give credit to the original author, and secondly they do not charge for it.
mods are in the end, fan-fictions. it's fans who decide to make something which they believe is better, and then share it off.

All main game code is owned by the company. Any mod code that is added is owned by the modders, unless they're mod becomes part of the vanilla game.
