Guys, you have GOT to try out the seed "gimmeabreak"
It spawns you in a NPC village, which means you have free large wooden houses, free lava and furnaces, free wheat, and a free fortified tower made from cobblestone.

It should be noted that I have yet to encounter a problem due to "out of memory"

Also, the more recent versions had subdued the problem as medium was sufficient to not cause a crash usually.

Now I have no trouble.

Edit: Or maybe I was just on short the whole time.

Edit again: Also, mushrooms appear to need a 9x9x8 space to grow into super-mushrooms.
Bonemeal works without fail.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but how are the new animal interactions?  Do they run away properly?  I wish there were more realistic animal behavior, that way you could have an actual ecosystem.
They run away fine. I've once had an animal run towards me when attacked so it's not completely fault proof.

Random Stupid Animal: Oh no, that blocky guy is attacking me!  I know, I'll run in his general direction, that'll stop him!

Well, it would seem old worlds won't be working so hot with 1.8~ :\
Or like one of the comments said, he could've stumbled upon a massive ocean biome.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

With it being a cow it would have been great if I'd got trampled.

That's a great idea!  It would add a little more challenge to slaughtering cows.

No, instead of making all cows capable of self-defense, there must be a bull among the female cows.  That bull, and that bull alone, is capable of aggressiveness, and it should have the sprint/knock-back ability.

I wouldn't count on it being gone yet.  The memory crash happened at the PAX booth at least twice while it was being demo'd(?) to everyone.  It may have been fixed since then, but it seems unlikely.

A friend and I experienced the Out of Memory error a few times during SMP, but installing 64-bit version of Java has solved it (We are both on 64-bit OS).

I'm not one to let things go untested, so I loaded up a 1.7 world in 1.8, and walked to the edge.

There was normal land.

How do you install the 1.8 .jar? Just put it in the bin folder? Because I did that, and it's not loading in browser mode.

and it's not loading in browser mode.
There's your problem.
The browser has an extra version checker that fails it if it's wrong.
The same reason you can't mod the browser version.

Download the launcher.
