You'll spawn on a tree in a swamp.

Look for the desert, run through it and you'll find a town positioned between two mountains.
-- mountain on the left has some neat features, not spectacular, but neat... major rivers cutting through.

-- Old school (square room) dungeon in desert area... 199, 63, 213

There is also a freaking HUGE network of abandoned mines below the spawn point... I ran into it in a gorge in the caves below the spawn... I think it goes out under the water.  Go in the caves at 112, 61, 201...down the pit to the mass of gravel at y level 29... down into the pit where the dirt is (careful lava)...explore a bit in that area and you'll find the gorge.  In the gorge, head to 163, 27, 228 (I suppose you could just dig straight there too...) Getting up to the mines is pretty easy, but there's more than one branch in that gorge area with the first set of abandoned mine wood braces.  (I think 3 branches.. haven't explored more.)

Okay so I've put off thinking about getting Minecraft for a long time because I'm broke and can't afford to pay for a video game, especially since I have so little free time. But I just got a new job and I'm thinking of treating myself and finally giving this game a shot.

But I want to try the classic version first, and I can't get it to load. Is it working? I get this error right after updating Java in both Chrome and Firefox:

Fatal error occurred (4): Unable to get input stream for lwjgl_applet.jar.pack

Is there something wrong with my computer? Or does the game not work anymore?

I have a history of problems with java, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was on my end. Can anyone help?

My favorite part of towns is all the different house designs. Like, even 2-room houses! It's very impressive.

Fine. It kept teleporting everywhere, which was annoying, but other than that, I totally annihilated it.

Excellent.  I'm glad they haven't replaced creepers on the "Most destructive" scale.

I also love my local abandoned mineshaft.
I found coal, iron, lapis lazuli, and redstone there.

Do you have the newest version of java? And if you do, have you tried reinstalling it?
