If there were villages, I'd like them to be created by NPCs that have AI that basically tell them to "Collect material > build simple homes from built-in blueprint  > live in home" and I'd think that'd be totally awesome. Me = always asking too much.

unfortunately (as far as I know) it dosn't work in Multiplayer.

Just saw the 1.8 trailer, not to mention the recent update log.  I now feel like getting on my knees and begging to Notch for forgiveness for my lack of faith.

Where is this mystical change log and Trailer you speak of?

Nevermind, I found this gaint archive on everything Comfirmed and Uncomfirmed about the 1.8 update.

Also, Sliverfish are comfirmed. And extremely rare.

Edit: Am I the only one who thinks Endermen would be SOOOO much scarier if Notch put them in as a secret?

Apparently, expected 1.8 release date has been pushed to Monday. Jeb says that they haven't done enough Testing for bugs, and they never release on Fridays.

What I'm most worried about is seeds not giving the same worlds anymore. Isn't that the whole point of seeds, so that worlds can be shared easily?
I'm probably getting that all wrong, though.

Seeds should still work, especially considering F3 will now show the world's seed. The only problem is seeds from before the update will generate differently after the update, but that isn't exactly surprising considering the huge changes in the world gen code.

Oh, so the seeds we know and love like Glacier and 404 won't give us the worlds they give us now, but if we put them in twice, we'll get the same world?
That's cool then. Also, are seeds case-sensitive?

That's kind of what I said, except much unclear-er. If we put them in twice after the update then they'll give the same world then, which is different from the ones we get now.
So yeah, fun seed messing about time coming up. Yay!
