It's times like these I realize my crippling dependence on texture packs. Also, how much I absolutely HATE that vignette effect. At least that fix doesn't have to be re-made each time.

Loving the new features, though!

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

Where does the guy find the time to make this stuff...

Also, holy shit, slimes and sea monsters.  Maybe?  And new rooms to make besides kitchens, halls, and art galleries.

Oh no...

Please tell me, can the slimes climb walls?
If so, I've got some re-designing to do with my tower.

I will say that there is a 99.99999~% possibility that sea monsters do not exists.

As for how he does it, He doesn't work a real job anymore, so Minecraft is his only source of Income. The more he does, the more people buy, the more money he makes! Plus, the faster he gets to beta, the more money people have to pay!

I love Notch, though. He's cool.

I did some math, and assuming he works 16 hour days and looses 75% of his income to overhead and taxes, and that he sells 600 copies a day, which seems pretty consistent, he takes home 90 euros, or $115 in real money, an hour. All of that very conservatively estimated. Perhaps the daily sales could be halved to give a long-term estimate, so let's say it's 300 a day, giving him $50 bucks an hour doing what he loves.

With that kind of encouragement, I know I'd put in some dev time.

He loses 50% to taxes I believe, or so I've been told multiple times.

Being in Sweden, it would be something around that number.  I was more surprised by how many different little oddballs he packed into one Friday update, presumably worked on over the course of the week, when he was also making multiplayer work, and going to parties and bicycle shopping and stuff.

Is it just me, or does every update make it a little more dangerous to do anything at night besides huddle in a walled-up hole and pray for the sunlight?  Not that the sunlight is entirely helpful, since just walking out of my hut, I had to fight off six creepers and four spiders who got aggro'd in the process.  I never realized just how much creepers blend into foliage.

Creepers are creepy...

I like it that it's hard, it will make multiplayer even more interesting.

I don't know about you guys, but I use torches to light paths that I travel, so unless I am looking for a fight, I don't get one.

I'm mostly referring to the first couple days/nights, when you don't have real tools and materials yet.  I've never seen the point in lighting up pathways, creatures just spawn out in the dark parts and roam to you.
