not the internet, per se. Just two hundred or so sites they deem as being debillitating to australians. ones like savagerape.com and dadsfuckdaughters - to name two.

The problems with it is that they've found other sites on the list which are slightly less... confronting. There was a lot of gay porn sites, extremist religious sites and even the site for a dentist there.


That's all the info i've gotten hold of.

See, most of those seem like perfectly reasonable (in the eyes of a politician) things to ban. However, the scary part from my understanding is the government would also have the right to ban any site at will, and among those on the list were sites condemning the bannings.

You also forgot to mention that trials have shown that the proposed filters are pretty much ineffective, can be avoided by using P2P programs and slow the internet down by up to 87% or so (and it aint very fast to begin with).

Basically the filter, if approved, will do nothing to hamper child pornography and piracy but will make it nigh on impossible to use for regular people.
