I feel rather sad!
« on: March 23, 2009, 10:13:58 pm »

My current fortress has grown so large, I'm attempting to get it killed off so I can start a new one, but it's becoming rather tough, at least to do it legitimately and not on purpose.
So I've tried to mod things to be tougher, mostly goblins and other various beasts, but for this map being untamed wilds, I'm sure not getting a lot of wildlife.
Anyway, I built a drawbridge corridor to kill caravans with, I've learned just how fun being an asshole can be to other civs. :D
I attempted to unleash this devastating trap on the most recent goblin siege... and the bridges were blown to bits.
I'm loving these new goblins.

Also, I have a male dwarf champion who's title is "The Woman Of Time", I shudder while imagining what kind of inside joke this is, centered on the poor fellow.

Make a precariously balanced magma chamber over your fort. Link the supports under it to random pressure plates around the fort. Sit back and watch the carnage. Alternatively, blow up the booze.

Wow, sucks to be that dwarf.

Yeah... I guess the newest versions are too easy for the moment. Hopefully the new wound system makes marksdwarves much less powerful. I also hope that the fire rate for ranged attacks is dialed back (possibly add a speed mod tag to ranged weapons/any weapons that affects the attack speed? Shrug.

Orcs are pretty hardcore, though. Here's another suggestion, maybe add a tag that lets a civ be INTELLIGENT but still have the sort of superhostility a race minus CAN_SPEAK gets?

This is a Dwarven corpse. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encircled with bands of pathetic and menaces with spikes of fail.

Thats not possible, [INTELLIGENT] implies [CAN_LEARN], [CAN_SPEAK], and [CAN_CIV].

I may set one of my cave crocodiles out in the middle of the map, then morph it into a dragon or hydra with Dwarf Companion.
...
Or maybe 3 dragons.

You know, I'm actually having the same problem? I got HFS and my dwarves even marched right through that (30 dwarves lost before my champions came in and tore the HFS apart without adamantine equipment, and yet no tantrum spiral!), and this world was made before I discovered the orc mod, so I'm not sure what else to do with it.

And then what?  Mine the sky? . . .  Actually, that'd be awesome.

try lowering bolt damage to 20 or 30. That does wonders for difficulty, especially if you leave arrow damage high.
