that does seem about right, they seem to have a phraseology malfunction on the wiki page.

i assumed they meant that a Beard Second = 50 angstroms, or 10^-10m

what they actually seem to have meant is that a Beard Second = 50 angstroms, and each angstrom is 10^-10.  I'd be happy to take the fall for my poor reading comprehension or failure to cross check what an angstrom actually is, but i think their syntax is equally at fault.

Thanks for helping me find my error!

They also don't have microfortnights, though they do have fortnights and you can then do 10^-6 fortnight in seconds yielding 1.2096 seconds.

10^-18 parsec in inches yields 1.21483474 inches, leading to the curious conclusion that one attoparsec per microfortnight is a very close speed to one inch per second. (And Google DOES have attoparsecs.)

EDIT: Reducing the fraction and plugging into Google: "10^-12 parsecs per fortnight in inches per second" yields:

(10^(-12)) (Parsecs per fortnight) = 1.00432766 inches per second

Recalculating using your equations as a template:

1 Beard Second = 5*10^-9, or 0.000000005 meters.
1 Beard Minute = 0.000000005 * 60 = 0.0000003
1 Beard Hour = 0.0000003 * 60 = 0.000018
1 Beard Day = 0.000018 * 24 = 0.000432
1 Beard Year = 0.000432 * 365.242199 = 0.157784629968

1 meter / 0.157784629968 = 6.3377529243679063897400716690319 Beard Years.

Which seems about right to me..

For simplicity I multiplied a beard day by 30 to get a beard month (To see if a beard month would be more useful then a bear year) and a beard month by 12 to get a beard year,  which results in an approximate 0.15552. Not the precise number but easier to say in conversation.

I got a few varied reactions today when I told people that I was 12 years and two months tall.

Based on a Beard year equalling 15.552cm

1 foot = ~1.96 Beard years.
1 metre = ~6.43 Beard years.

As a simple, approximately correct, rule, a foot equals 2 Beard years, an inch is 2 Beard months.

Uhm, that's impossible to tell, since everything occupies 1 square right now. [1 dwarf, 1 cage with 20 dragons in it, etc.] :)

How about a unit of speed? One Beard Shake (beard-second/shake) is more or less 0.5 meters/second.

edit: protip: when converting speed units, there's no need to multiply. A Giga Beard Shake is slightly over the speed of light. :P
