All RIGHT! Let's get this party started!
Here are our characters:
Zubmeh started out as a rural commoner, and was a peasant for five years, then entered training as a novice monk before spending a full decade as a monk. That gave him plenty of time to study religion and become virtuous! He's also good enough at healing that he might actually help out. He can talk a bit, and hit things with impact weapons.
Gaweir was a noble heir from the age of 15 through 25, studying war and virtue, then became a knight. He fought on horseback for five years before deciding to go adventuring.
Tickel Meelmo ("Elmo") started out as a craftsman and quickly found his calling as a trader; he travelled for a while, then settled down and ran his own shop as a merchant-proprietor for about fifteen years. Eventually, he wigged out and became a hermit for a while, then went back to travelling...gathering his resources to fund an adventuring expedition.
Gary the Yellow grew up as a thief, stealthy and streetwise, then became a swindler when he realized he was less likely to get killed.
In addition, the party knows a few saints to invoke!
Zubmeh learned two saints.
St. John of Bridlington:
"Patron Saint of women in difficult labor, he was also known as John Thwing and was famous for his piety and honesty. He enhances Strength and Endurance by a small amount, for women only, and can heal both attributes, more so for women than for men." Sucks for us, we don't have any women! We can invoke him reliably for 93 divine favor.
St. Wolfgang:
"A director of monastery schools, known for his work with the poor and also with nobility (including the Emperor). Increases Intelligence, Charisma, Woodwise, and Riding by a modest amount, and Speak Common by a very great amount. He also enhances local reputation in villages and with nobility." We can get a 50% chance on him for just 28 divine favor, and guaranteed with 77. Not bad.
During Elmo's stint as a hermit, he learned one saint.
St. Christopher:
"Patron saint of travellers and pilgrims, who carried travellers across rivers. He survived many tortures and attacks for the sake of Christ. He improves travel speeds, restores a small amount of Strength and a modest amount of Endurance, and improves bow weapons and Streetwise by a good amount, and Woodwise and Riding by a very great amount." Invoking him reliably will cost most of Elmo's divine favor, too.
Looks like we'll be invoking St. Wolfgang quite a lot when we come to new towns, and before we ever try to meet with the local lord!
We're in Hannover, which is in the northwest region of the game:
