Well, better late than never. Here it is.
The night before Christmas
Music by Joss, Lyrics by JellyFishGreen and Joss
Joss - The night before ChristmasAll instruments, vocals and recording done by me.
The encoding to 128kbps mp3 shitenificates the sound quality even further, but I hope you survive.
I modified the original poem, to make it shorter and added a chorus, so my apologies to JellyFishGreen if you feel your masterwork has been raped.
Putting all of the original 9 verses into the song would have been very epic, but I thought it would be too long, heck maybe it's too long even now.
The lyrics:
Verse 1:
Twas the eve of the solstice, and all across the land,
Winter held the world in its cold icy hand.
The last order signed, I lay down my head
With one final admiring thought for my lovely bed.
Chorus:
Eight stray tame reindeer
Pulling his sleigh
Out of the darkness
The man dressed in red came
Verse 2:
More rapid than Giant Eagles, his draft animals came,
And in some foreign tongue he called them by name.
As if by strange magic, they flew over the snow,
Like the mounts of the Wizards that died out long ago.
Chorus:
Verse 3:
"I've heard of your legend. But we have no use for toys."
He said, "I save those for good Human girls and boys.
For dwarves I have something I know you can use,"
And he uncovered the wagons to reveal a mountain of booze.
Chorus:
Verse 4:
The dwarves, they rejoiced! They danced with delight!
They called for a Party and got properly tight!
And I heard him exclaim as he rode out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to Toady One, and to all a good night!"
SOLO:
And before you flame, remember, I'm a 16yo poor teenager with a shitty computer and a soundcard from 1999, not a professional musician/songwriter/sound technician.
PS: If anyone's interested, I also sing in a rock/metal band called Hallutsinatsioon:
