Well, you beat me to it. I was going to make a power metal song out of this. I already have the melody and riffs, just the recording to do.
It was going to be a christmas surprise, but oh well...
But hey, good luck to you!  Two songs are always better than one.

Merry commercial shopping holidays to you.

Hm, I imagine it more of as a waltz, but that works too, I guess.

Has the "Night Before Christmass" ever been put to music? I should look this up...

Tahin returns from Wikipedia...

Well, apparently it's never been recorded seriously in its original version, and as such I don't consider it to have an official tune. Awesome.

I want Santa to visit my fortress with booze and picks of fine steel.
Heck, even coal would be good.

Having in mind my total lack of talent in poetry, despite the experience in reading it, this one is a great one, and I loved reciting it to my girlfriends, who looked upon me in disbelief as if a train got over me. She liked it though. Sounds... warm and fuzzy to the heart.

Well, better late than never. Here it is.

The night before Christmas
Music by Joss, Lyrics by JellyFishGreen and Joss

Joss - The night before Christmas
All instruments, vocals and recording done by me.

The encoding to 128kbps mp3 shitenificates the sound quality even further, but I hope you survive.
I modified the original poem, to make it shorter and added a chorus, so my apologies to JellyFishGreen if you feel your masterwork has been raped.
Putting all of the original 9 verses into the song would have been very epic, but I thought it would be too long, heck maybe it's too long even now.

The lyrics:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And before you flame, remember, I'm a 16yo poor teenager with a shitty computer and a soundcard from 1999, not a professional musician/songwriter/sound technician.

PS: If anyone's interested, I also sing in a rock/metal band called Hallutsinatsioon: http://www.myspace.com/hallukas
