Mainiac probably just has some important Weekend stuff he has to attend to. I don't think he'd abandon something this interesting.

My computer died on me so I'm going to be unable to play this for a couple weeks if not longer.  I would recommend finding either a replacement player or a temporary substitute player.

hai.

I haven't looked carefully at the saves. Except when I was trying to find those mystery planes. Honest.

edit: If you want me to carry on for you for a bit, do you have any instructions for me mainiac? PM them if you want.

Sorry folks, but I think it'd be better to wait those few weeks for mainiac than substitute some other player. We've been at it(well, at least me an Aq) for half a year, we can wait half a month.

A couple weeks is the optimistic estimate.  I need to get a new computer if I'm going to rejoin this game.  I currently am not even sure if I'm even going to get a computer.  I recommend a temporary replacement at least.

No, my true brilliance will be shown by winning the game from the shadows.

If I do substitute in you are so going to be my ambassador to house Al-Malik. Because I don't think I could ever carry on this sort of... correspondence, with Il Palazzo myself.

Yeah, whoever replaces mainiac had better come in prepared to carry on a battle of wits and insults with Palazzo, a guy who uses Adolf Cartman as an avatar and lives up to the reputation.

Mainiac, if you need a new computer to run such a crappy little program as EOFS, then how are you posting here?  Even if it's a campus computer or something, surely whatever you're using now could make the effort for an hour a turn.

Run it from a flash drive.  It works, trust me.

Flatterer.

Mainiac, come on, I've been scheming and plotting for so long just so that I can finally make your life miserable. You can't take this away from me.

Since we're pausing for a moment anyway, I wanted to discuss with you guys this rule:
29. A noble may not vote unless he has been on the surface of Byzantium continuously since the previous election. He is banned from voting even if he took off and landed again in the same turn. If a noble is allowed to stay in orbit or jump around the surface of Byzantium, it's too easy for him to avoid assassins. You can consider this rule to be a statute of the Imperial constitution.

I simply don't like it.
While I understand the undelying reason for implementing this, it just makes winning the game too easy. Imagine: you declare yourself an emperor, and on the same turn kill all the nobles on byzantium(you have the advantage of surprise, and was planning to do it etc), thus automatically winning the next turn elections AND the third one as well, as even if other houses ship their nobles to byzantium the next turn, they'd be prohibited from voting in the final election anyway.
