I thought they were making a tomato farming anime for a second, and now I'm really disappointed.

People at Gainax got really into Harvest Moon, so they decided to create their own real-life farming and marketing sim, for themselves. You see, management sims are for people who don't actually have the money and expertise to play the real thing. Organic tomatoes are more wholesome than the Evangelion porn games / official Eva porn books they also created. BTW:

Gainax West is itself a new branch announced last month. The new branch is located in the Kobe Anime Street shopping district that opened in March 2015 in the Asta Kunizuka buildings in the Nagata ward of Kobe City. The location contains shops that cater to anime goods and services, including a cosplay shop, an "anisong cafe," and a shop that specializes in ita-sha (decorated cars).

So this is what Gainax is now, you go there to get anime merch, go to the anime cosplay cafe, buy the house-brand tomato juice, and they do the whole Pimp Your Ride thing while you wait. Yo dawg I heard you like Evangelion so I put Asuka on your hood, so you can otaku while u drive

Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo is also pretty funny. Probably should have been a ~5 minute short, but whatever.

Now I need to go watch all the other new season stuff so I can gripe about this being the worst season ever and that anime is dying.

Anyway, watching more new stuff.

Haifuri sounded like it was going to be shit but might not be shit. It's a serious story about schoolgirls on battleships. There's plenty of naval porn too.

Flying Witch is a funny SoL about a... flying... witch. Shocking. Not much to say other than it's cute in the not-moe sense of the word.

Hundred sounded like it was going to be shit and is, in fact, shit. Generic LN protagonist with a dark past and some superpower transfers to a new school and immediately has all the generic girls fawn over him/do tsundere things. Pass.

Kiznaiver is looking pretty darn interesting. It actually reminds me of Kokoro Connect and... whatever that other one was that I can't remember. I like the combination of wonky artwork and trippy setting. Not sure what direction it's going in just yet.

Anime takes the "girls with guns" thing to unexplored territories, such as that one anime where the girls are anthropomorphic assault rifles. BTW, good job whoever wrote that blurb for Upotte, it makes the actual show sound way more cheesy than it actually is (doesn't really have the harem romcom thing that's "promised" in the blurb).

No, other than premise. I was also going to comment on how the world is devoid of men, but then we got an unnamed beardo in the second episode.

Anyway, I'm... actually enjoying this. If you saw Kancolle and thought "I wish the tits were smaller and the characters were actually in danger", then you might like Haifuri.
