For moondreamer, maybe Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Hellsing: Ultimate and Black Lagoon would be the the thing.

Actually watched FMA and it was good. Forgot about it  Wouldn't mind something similar.
Black Lagoon was decent, but I dropped it around the middle. Hellsing I watched the TV series, they were shit. Ultimate wasn't finished then, I believe.

Yeah, for the Hellsing TV show they apparently didn't even bother trying to follow the manga, they just took the main characters and did their own thing. Ultimate does actually follow the comics.

I found that Hellsing Ultimate (and the manga) wasn't really as good as it could have been.

I felt it was going for some epic great storyline, but in the end it doesn't really have that much substance.

Finally got around to watching Ep12. What are your thoughts?

I liked the instant teamwork they presented in both the combat and the jump scene. That whole scene with Mary teared me up though, specially the last one...

It definitely felt like two episodes being smashed together at once. The whole Temple Scene was a little... rushed and quite a bit "Makes it easy!"

HOWEVER! It might lead to something bigger down the road. So I don't think it is over yet.

As well yes I also thought it was an excellent episode.

Tbh, a lot of the episodes feel like they are trying to say a lot in one go. I think its mainly because they were limited on time or something. Like they were only given one season of X amount of episodes but they knew that their story needed at least double that or such to make sense...

Though I enjoyed it I find it doesn't really play into the strength of its own premise. Instead of exploring the interaction between both worlds more I feel it tries to shoehorn itself into being yet another fantasy anime.

The only thing that bugs me is the sheer amount of times the main character talks for everyone... Even sometimes right down to supplying their inner monologue.

Which would be fine if he was an unreliable narrator... but I think your supposed to take his narration at face value.

It's more palatable that the real-world nationalist racism in Mahouka though.
