You should do a MAL list, since you've probably seen a lot it doesn't make it easy to second guess what you saw. Have you seen Monster?

The cockroach-people look a hell of a lot like racist black caricatures (with antenna).  But in any case the main issue with Terra ForMars is that it was terrible.  Most episodes are like a minute of poorly animated fighting and 20 minutes of irrelevant backstory for a character who is about to die or already dead so who cares.

Speaking of which I'd say that even the slow LotGH episodes tend to have interesting character development or plot advancement.  There are a couple of fillerish episodes early on but they tail off (other than a later episode about the history of the galaxy, which I found very interesting).

I might need to watch a new anime.

"Good anime" seems like a sortof tough request to fill.  Do you have any other specifications?

I'm going to emphatically recommend Kill La Kill, if only because I'd be fascinated and enraged at why anybody wouldn't like it. It's... sort of Gurren Lagann/DBZ ish, and completely ridiculous in that sort of way that paints the world as ridiculous but credible, rather than being a formless pile of spineless nonsense.

You might also try Magi. There's plenty of room to criticize it, but I'm finding it entertaining enough. Sort of an adventure thing with monsters and politics.

... though, thinking on it. There was an anime-style animated movie about a... prison? Type thing. Saw it on TV in the states... gods, probably over a decade ago? It was definitely action/sci-fi, and fairly odd and quite colorful, but I've completely forgotten, like. Everything. That wouldn't happen to ring any bells for anyone? Think the title had a number in it, if that helps any.
