So, I know that this is an anime/manga thread. But has anyone read any fun/interesting visual novels? I'm looking for some new ones to read.

Which ones have you already read, and what kind of genre are you after?  If it's open then my standard recommendations would be
(3)DS: Ace Attorney series (all of the games except Apollo Justice are pretty excellent), Zero Escape (999, Virtue's Last Reward/Good People Die)

PC: Higurashi, Umineko (get the PS2/3 tweaks)

Higurashi is on my list already. Right now I've got a recommendation for a hentai one from my girlfriend, so I'll be reading that one for the lolz.

Uh, right now I'm looking for anything that has a good story. I enjoyed the anime Chaos;Head which I recently discovered was based off of a VN, so that's on my list as well. Long Live the Queen I've heard good things about it so that's there. I'm kind of just sampling to see what genre I'd have the most fun with.

There are some really good moments and it'll turn your brain into a smoothie when you finish, but yeah, there's a lot of boring scenes...

If you like that kind of stuff, Ever17 and Remember11 would be right up your alley as well. Same for Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate really.

Heads up, if you don't know it the movie Edge of Tomorrow is based on All you Need is Kill. It's quite good.

I wouldn't mind seeing MuvLuv the Movie: Starring Tom Cruise.

I like anime very much, title thing.
On a side note, any recommendations for a good magic-based anime? By that, I mean magic like Fairy Tail and such. Except less Shounen-y, and more plot-based.
