I just watched the first episode of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san. You know, that series where Nyarlathotep is a little girl. It wasn't terrible, in fact it rather amused me. It's really just a magical girlfriend show with the twist that the heroine is hardly heroic, although this is just the first episode.

I've checked out some pictures of other yet-to-be-introduced characters. The Shota In Yellow is cute.

I've checked out some pictures of other yet-to-be-introduced characters. The Shota In Yellow is cute.

Finally started reading the Fire Emblem 4 manga, really liking it so far, it's like a nice daydream back to my days playing the game.

EDIT: On Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, I'll deign to watch it immediately if Pharaoh Rameses III is a pretty boy bishounen and King Tut is a chibi comic relief character.

Seriously what the hell.  Okay so I played more of the final route in Ever17 before heading to bed last night.  Lo and behold when I woke up I had neatly arranged the pieces in my head.  The moment I realized one thing it all came crashing down.  I really have enough hints to solve this now.  There can't be possibly much left in the game.  It's amazing.  I feel like I'm playing 999.

The two protagonists are separated by 17 years

There was no "missing" people, they were simply not there.  Well, for most of them

That's amaaaazing.  I had the thought that a lot of the people don't even match up, okay let's try to sort this.


When you're playing as Takeshi (Sora and Tsugumi's routes):
This is the 17 years prior one.  We don't really have any idea what Takeshi looks like since we're playing as him.

But he's probably Sara and Kid B's father somehow?  Blaergh.  Either way when you're playing as Takeshi you always die.  And would have to get Tsugumi pregnant with fraternal twins?  But then there's Coco who calls herself a sun person.

Anyway the biggest proof Tsugumi is Sara and Kid B's mother is her infravision.  It's the Cure Virus man.  Also Sara and Kid B aren't here 17 years ago.

Anyway characters for 17 years prior:

Takeshi A - yes there are two Takeshi's too I guess?  Probably Sara and Kid B's father?  He's in Sara's pendant.
You - it's the future You's mother, the one you see as 34 years old at the end of You's route when you're Kid A.  They have different full names slightly.
Sora - she's the AI so she doesn't age or anything, I'm guessing she's a different AI 17 years later thanks to LeMU breaking?  Well, I guess in Sora's route Takeshi A uploads her data onto a terabyte disc
Tsugumi - gotta be the same Tsugumi in both, she has the Cure Virus so she doesn't age, don't see why she wouldn't be the same person.  It makes me angry that Sora and Tsugumi don't reveal anything though.
Coco - she has ESP and calls herself a sun person.  Can contact Kid B 17 years in the future but nobody else has seen that vision yet.  I'd like to see Sara or Tsugumi look at her...
Kid A - I have no idea, none  Who are you Kid A???

then all of them escape except for Takeshi A (and Sora I guess), Tsugumi has Sara and Kid B.  You adopts...You (she would be one years old) as her daughter.  What the fuck

Oh and back then is the only time the group head down to HIMMEL and it's also the only time the TB-virus ever comes into play.  The last surviving researcher was probably Coco's dad?  I don't know

Okay and then 17 years pass

LeMU was built again it looks like.  We never go into HIMMEL in these routes because 34 year old You and a male scientist (Kid A?) contact them and they all escape safely (although in Sara's route Kid B and Sara run off).


Kid B is the protagonist now (You and Sara's routes):

Takeshi B - ....who are you??  Also survives these times. (the only game where saying 'these times' is correct)
You - a different You, younger.  Wants to find out about her missing father and mother although finds out they died.  Father was 17 years ago and Mother was 15 years ago.
Sora - same AI possibly.  Very obviously hiding the fact this has all happened before.
Tsugumi - gotta be the same Tsugumi as last time too.  Wouldn't that mean she's hanging out with her children?  This makes me believe that the second time is all a set-up.  Or it's possible she doesn't want to get close to them because they'll just outgrow her and die.  :\
Sara - Tsugumi and Takeshi A's daughter?  Fraternal twins with Kid B.  Looks like they have infravision like their mother but aren't immortal since well, aging.
Kid B - complete badass, confused as much as I am. Sara says his name is Hokuto.

bleh, I give up.  I'll be happy if even half of this is right

I cannot remember the benevolent Old One (he is still evil mind you, but he is the closest to one who genuinly doesn't want to destroy mankind and help it out that there is)

After reading this, I decided to watch the first episode out of pure WTF. I agree with your assessment. I think I'll continue watching this in a couple of months. This will probably be the first "magical girlfriend" series I've seen. Well, maybe fooly-cooly counts, but that series is just plain weird.

I can't wait to describe this series to other people.

So Nyarlathotep comes to earth to fight a criminal organization. Some guy, who can fend off our friend with a fork, gets blackmail material on Nyarlathotep by recording a discussion of a plan to shoplift some comics.

That description seems lacking. I'm trying to find a way to describe the series that gets all the absurdity across, while saving the fact that Nyarlathotep takes the form of a little girl who is in love with the main guy as the last wtf bombshell. I know someone else can do better.

After reading this, I decided to watch the first episode out of pure WTF. I agree with your assessment. I think I'll continue watching this in a couple of months. This will probably be the first "magical girlfriend" series I've seen. Well, maybe fooly-cooly counts, but that series is just plain weird.

I've decided to not watch the series, purely that I've been building up a much more absurd story in my head where Cleopatra is a Kaere-esque panty-shot character, Marc Antony is one of those spirally eyed losers, and Augustus Octavian goes one-winged angel and kills everybody.

It just got here the other day but I haven't started it yet. I'm in the middle of FF13 right now but man I am getting kinda bored and 999 is really tempting.
