Finished Diary10.  14 year olds going to have sex?  What is this!?  I can't believe that Yuno.

Also, Yuki's Mom is like what what is this.  That's my reaction.

You will notice a lot of this in the more adult animes. It created a backlash interestingly enough.

Though it isn't the only "What the heck" instance.

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.

Damn, nevermind. The second volume of Iono sucked.

Why do they always feel the need to turn a perfectly good gag series into something with a plot? Can you give me an answer Excel?

What? Episode 24?

Because they ran out of gags and want to end it with a little more?

And now I have finished Ghost in The Shell 2.
That dollhouse scene is pretty f***'d up.

So, I guess next in the watch order is Stand Alone Complex, which I haven't seen since I was littleish.

Hi, it was inevitable that I'd return, to spit some of my venomous phlegm and complain, despite my assurances to the contrary - true dorks never leave, after all.

So, Excel's sudden switch into gagless romantic romp was the crowning moment of ridiculousness in the show. I can't fathom how could it be ever considered a move aimed at, I don't know, "saving the show by introducing plot"? The whole lenght of ES is filled with constant parodying of everything Anime is, how could anyone not treat the "plot" as another, gloriously deadpan joke?
Each second of that episode(wasn't it two eps? I honestly don't remember) when they did not crack any idiotic gag, was so ridiculously, jarringly in contrast with the rest of it, that I couldn't stop laughing and grinning - I couldn't believe that they were actually pulling this off.
I kept expecting a return to it's old self any minute now, and when it finally did, I was so positively exhausted from laughing that I had to put off watching the rest of the show.
And then, of course, with the inevitability of a swinging pendulum, they took the last episode to the opposite extreme, going totally overboard with terribly crude jokes.
How could anybody not notice the relevance? You just missed the best joke in the series.

I was ten when my dad first showed me this movie.
Rewatched it recently, and I can definitely say it's my favourite.

Whoa, no. You misunderstood me. I was complaining about a different gag series that went serious, Iono-sama fanatics. And then I decided to watch a relevant episode of Excel Saga to console myself. Sorry, I should have been more clear about that.

I love that episode, it's probably my favorite from the second half of the series. Everything gets so serious but Excel still feels so much like Excel it's hard not to fall into it, and it's hilarious.

Speaking of which, is that where you got your username?

Of course!

Haha, nice. He's great.

One of my favorite Il Palazzo moments has to be when he's practicing with his band but he still has that expressionless look. It's just so funny seeing him with a guitar.
