the gene machine adds attributes from the second choice you make, to the first one you make.

so, say you have a little girl and a infantry person, the little girl selected first, infantry second, the little girl will gain skills she doesn't have, experience potentially if the second selection's a higher level, and possible attribute boosts.

if you're splicing two non-humanoid's together (say, a putit and a hound.) then you can also add body slots that the other is 'missing' from the one you're adding to them, though i'm not sure if you can add multiple amounts of the same slot, like if you capture one of those four armed things to add to whatever else.

though, you'd be able to add body slots and such to one of them, i'd assume, so you can put armour on them. i need to try that now.

finally, your gene skill also affects the level of the pets that you can splice together. if you don't have enough skill, you can't splice a L25 pet with something else, after all.

Thanks. So how much does your Gene Engineer skill affect the levels of the creatures you can combine? Is it one level for every level of Gene Engineer, or more?

I've no idea to be honest. I'm sure it's not a 1:1 ratio though, as i was combining L11 creatures around 6 skill, or something like that. I've not watched too closely though. I know at 11 i couldn't combine my L25 pet with anything, though.

Hm, so the best guess would be 2:1.

So Vernis is now horribly dangerous. There are swarms of alien kids all over the town. My new quest is to get to level 30 or something and kill all the aliens to bring peace to Vernis.

Until then, any time I do anything there I'll get owned by three aliens at once.

Okay, so i captured an Asura, the four armed thing i mentioned before.
It came at L12, so i'm assuming you'd want a L12 monster ball to capture one yourself, 15 to be safe, i used a 28, as it was all i had on hand.

It came armed with four daggers, that i forgot to re-equip it with when i got it examined, so, another 10K later after IDing its daggers, just to see what its stats look like with them, i get the following:

Str: 51   -    Ler: 13
Con: 45   -    Wil: 16
Dex: 44   -    Mag: 15
Per: 17   -    Chr: 15

90% HP, 70% Mana, Speed 86.

Melee: 94%, 78%, 63%, 48% (Four attacks a round, basically, with its current daggers.)
Evade and such is unimportant right now, and for its noteworthy skills, at least as far as i'd assume you'd want to know, it has...

Tactics, Dual Wield (50!), Evasion, Greater Evasion, and, alsorts of other skills like weapons and armour ones, and so forth.

It has Four hands, Neck, Ranged Weapon/Ammo Slots.
I think i just found my new bodyguard pet to keep my fairy pianist standing. right after i get some ally scrolls and splice away, to make it able to wear armour.

I capture Asuras and splice them with my war horse to make a horse with arms jutting out of it.

I figured out how to target yourself with interact: press space when it asks you for a direction.

Also, what does the "Teach" command do? Does it teach your pet something to say when they kill an enemy?

Yeah, they do. Annoying.

I've confirmed that Orc Warriors are a random enemy.

it's not a 2:1 ratio for gene engineering. i just got able to splice L20's, at 15 skill, so it's looking more like Engineering Skill + 5. Soon, i'll splice the L25 skeleton berskerer and L30 shade i got back to back from ally scrolls. (followed by six assorted plants and mushrooms.)

Oh man...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Anyway, I've decided to try the game.  I made a warrior named Archibald VanHappy, who is an old man with cone-shaped protrusions of hair coming out of the sides of his head.  Many will fall before his blade!

Epic.

And is the game gender confused, or did I simply pick the wrong one?  I'm wearing bronze armor, but it looks more like a dress.  Archibald VanHappy seems to be quite busty, as well :O

The regular armors have the 'Busty' look to them. It bothered me enough to look at my character closely with and without it on.
