I recently found a rougelike for my DS (nintendo gameboy DS).
I like it, but Elona has so much more.

Go find some easy "I want", "Birthday" and delivery quests to do... and don't ID everything at the start. Things you can find usually worth much less than the ID price. ID the rods, scrolls and spell books so future ones would sell for a better price, and just sell all the armor and weapon, except those you sense to be good.

Keep Wonder and Oracle scrolls to trade with NPC adventurers... that's how you get better equipment.

Later on you will have so much money that you'll hit the "ID all my stuff" option without thinking. :P

After becoming so good at this game (level 25 now, with over 400,000 gp to my name) it has become rather dull. Has anyone even reached the endgame, or even gotten the items (in the third quest, after lesmias)? I can't interpret from the quest log where they might be and I don't feel like searching every set dungeon for them.

If you feel like you're of a high enough equipment and skill level... You could try taking on the chaos forts.

The "Claymore" class caught me off guard when I saw it in the menu just now. I read that manga!

Hmm...maybe after a few games with sensible character choices, I'll play a Snail Tourist...

I haven't been here much, not much time to play the game, but if anyone wants the first post changed to reflect new information or to contain images, information, links, et cetera, let me know and I'll edit it.

Also, since there's this newfangled* Elochat thingamabob*, how about we share our current characters, so we know when a Bay 12'er got horribly maimed at the bottom of the puppy cave?

(*Apparently both of these are real words. Wow.)

My current character is Moonlight Fool Vanik, the male Yerles Pianist. He's going for a combination of Machine Gunnery* and Martial Arts, leading a large group with his 17 Charisma.

(*Pianist, but he keeps his gun in a violin case. *grin* Vanik is running the Tyrian Mafia or something.)

Sure, why not?  My character's name is "Lunatic Bravery Empirus", a Dwarf Warrior.  The name certainly seemed appropriate.  ;D  In any case, I'm rather stuck right now because I really need to get good resistances to magic.  Right now there's a bunch of lightning hounds in Lesimas that utterly rape me... I hope my Lightning cloud or whatever starts breeding soon so I can eat the corpses... :-\

A friendly word of advice:  Stay away from the bubble moongate, and don't let your Fame get too high.  I gained a few levels in one and got my fame up pretty high doing quests, and now not only are random encounters a real pain, the jobs don't seem to be worth nearly as much.  YMMV.

My current chara is a female lich claymore named Lequia "The recurrence". Basically my first, so I've died plenty already. I don't know how long she'll survive once she hits level 6...

Also, about the chat function; how do you get to it? I think I saw it once, but I can't remember.

Ah. It turns out I didn't have the most recent version. I got v1.13 because it was at the top of the page, so I didn't have elochat.exe in my directory.

Also, is there anyone else whose game freezes up momentarily when trying to do something after having not done anything for a short time? It's really annoying, and the only real complaint I have at the moment.
EDIT: It seems that updating to version 1.14 has stopped this. I haven't been playing long, so I'm not sure yet, but I haven't had it freeze up since switching.

On another note, various things about this game give it the feel of an MMO to me, even though it's single player. (Although admittedly I haven't played many MMOs, so I might just be silly.)

If you turn off the online features, it stops freezing... It seems it does so while it's loading online stuff. Some people just need to learn how to use threads in games. *bonks the programmer*
