So, seriously, Toady, where did you go!
« on: September 25, 2008, 11:27:17 pm »

Toady's last post on the forum was almost 2 weeks ago.

His last dev_now was 5 days ago.

I know his break began the 22nd (23rd?), but he never even made an update about it, which is something he always did.

So what's up?

The less he appeases me with silly morsels the more work he must be doing, this is a good thing.  Quiet you!

If by feds you mean the Amalgamated Carp Mafia (ACM), then yes.

But he's on his break now, so he wouldn't even be doing DF!

Is the new computer he's been setting up the one that was donated?  Perhaps it was a trap.  As soon as the machine detected that a workable version of the DF source was on it, it sprouted a set of small robotic legs and began to flee back to its evil masters.  Toady is now tracking the traitorous box across the US to do battle with his enemies.

So what's up?

I wouldn't worry about it, it's probably that the next version has so much stuff in it that it will take more than one month to next release. Remember the monthly release schedule is pretty new, and there was a huge time gap between .38 and .39.

He had to break save game compatibility, so I'm assuming major code revisions and of course, the need to fix the associated breakage. I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a version out for October, either.

Alternatively, maybe he has borked Internet access from moving over to the new computer. Hopefully it hasn't prevented him from coding (or working on his other project, which I assume is something non-fun that helps keep him fed).

Beyond the fact that he is on his break and switching computers and being blindsighted by Non-Bay12games related activities (apperantly bringing his living quarters up to code or something)

Yeah I agree it is like he up and disapeared.

Well, in my opinion, every minute he's NOT on the forums is a minute that he could potentially hypothetically be working on something DF-related, so I'm not too upset if he doesn't come around for a couple of weeks.

Usually when Toady is working hard on some CORE compoments, he tends to forget about the forum. This happened in the past also.
Plus its his scheduled end of month break right now. I suppose we wont see him 'til 1st october.

There a reason he's called Toady one; the great.

Though that little topic I made puts things into question.
