I have never seen an engraving of a dwarf admiring something before.

Hi!

In fortress mode during trade, I noticed something very interesting. While the prices for normal objects were fixed and only influenced by quality and trade agreements, decorated objects with depictions seemed to have a price fluctuation of their own. I had one decorated flask the humans would give me only less than its actual value for. On the other hand, the dwarves offered me more than twice the value of a decorated ring, while other rings just gained about 60% of their value. The ring was decorated with an image of one of my dwarves striking down a kobold. I guess the dwarves liked this idea :) :)

The shift key + one of the directional keys... really helpful

You have awaken my interest.

Now satisfy it. What does it do?
Sorry I wasn't here to answer the question sooner.
It helps move the designator/look thingy faster(like skips along 8 tiles a time)......my mind is blank for its proper name but you know what I mean.
It really helps when digging or such that requires a large/long field
isn't it exactly 11 tiles that it moves?

Yes indeed it is and it is very important to remember this when trying to be symmetric.

For really large designations, I just use the right mouse button to move the cursor to where I want it.

Only vaguely. Made of the same substance and put to the same use, but a bit like comparing a castle and a doublewide trailer.

It is in fact 10 tiles. I had to redo a part of my fort because I didn't know that.

I just discovered that water erodes soil ramps. I have a map (white sand) that has an annual floods in the spring. All of the flooded areas have ramps going up, but not back down. I'm interested to see if they eventually lose the ramps altogether.

Hello!

You have annual floods???

What kind of location does have that? I thought they got extinct since we changed to 3D. This could be very, very interesting news for me. So, you have my full attention.

Depends which way you present it: The amount of tiles designated if ENTER -> Shift+right arrow -> ENTER is 11. The amount of tiles the cursor actually moves is 10.
