Would it be possible to get DF to run on a DS/PSP?

OR any such portable gaming device.

I'm really just curious. Though, I doubt the machines could run the game without exploding from witnessing such sheer awesomeness.

If your psp has some opengl capabilities and 2500+ processor and 1Gb RAM then you should be ok =).
For now it's impossible due to high system requirements (and it's not a goal/bloat/arc yet).

Ha! Ha! Ha!
Do you know how much RAM the DS has?
4 MEGAbyte. Not Gigabyte. MEGAbytes.
Do you know how much RAM DF uses?
40 Megabytes. ON THE TITLE SCREEN.

There's actually a RAM expansion that is used for one or two carts. I'm not sure how much it is. That in no way makes this any more possible, what with the 67 and 33 mHz processors.

The IPhone could run DF sufficant if its an pocket world (and nanofortress/20Zs max?) without weather and less civs i think.

The Build in ARM 1176 can run on 620 MHz The ram is about 128MB in size and 4-8 GB Nand-Flash are enought diskspace.

Given that Mac os X runs more efficient then an avardge Windows i would think it would run on it.

Maybe even an unmodified MAC DF can run on it.

Ah well. I didn't think so, but it was worth a shot.

What about a really good PDA? >.>

DF uses enough ram to bring even the fasest computers to its knees, now if it was something like and Xbox 360 which has not 1, not 2, but 4 CPUs then it would work.

.. The number of CPUs is completely irrelevant since DF only uses one of them, besides that having nothing to do with RAM.

DS = Not possible. Already been heavily debated. However, what I do is use a program called Win2DS that basically outputs a 2 FPS video of what's going on on your desktop to the DS, and uses the touchscreen to provide mouse input, to play assorted games and surf the web.

PSP: Mehbeh. I could see a super tiny game being run at low, low low low speeds on it with some degree of success. It'd need some serious optimization to fit into the 32-odd MB of RAM, though.

iPhone: Possibly... 400-ish MHz proc, with a secondary GPU, and a barely scraping by 128MB. It'd still have to be specially optimized a bit, and would run very slowly, but might be doable.

Your best bet would be something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2030260628&bop=And&SpeTabStoreType=3&Order=PRICED (an ultra mobile PC)
or maybe http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220266
an EEEPC.

Like I said in another thread, a RoverPC A700GQ is what you'd need, or an equivalent. Or if you need something that's more of a laptop than a handheld, any of the recent EeePC-killers, like Acer Aspire One.

I believe that this has been mentioned before, but I'll say it again, yes, you could play it on DS or PSP. Just not run it. If your iphone had a wireless internet connection to your PC, you could run it remotely, sending commands and receiving ACSII.

Well, the usual "rabble" aside, it is possible for someone determined enough to make a roguelike in lieu of DF, for GBA or DS. I'm not sure about fort mode, since that presents mighty powerful hurdles even to PC-based developments, but something of the kind could be possible. DF itself will never be possible in full on any of the current handhelds, but something like "Slaves to Armok, God of Blood: Prologue. Seeds of Time." for a handheld platform could be possible, as a "spiritual successor".
