Goblin tower ruins are AWESOME.
« on: January 20, 2009, 03:01:02 am »

Three towers, all ready for me to move in. a brook, and HFS and magma in the nearby mountain.

Although I'm pretty sure I'm going to disassemble one tower at least. And re-build the temple too.

I've looked at functioning goblin towers, but the internal passageways always looked a bit cramped and tortuous to me.

If the towers are large enough, you can live INSIDE the tower walls, preparing for that time when you kock down a wall and storm their castle from the inside. And everyone knows, when the Dwarves come out of the walls, it's all over.

What do ruins look like in the finder, and how do you differentiate them from working sites?

Hi!

Ruins of any settlement are indicated by the sign for micro ("μ") while working sites have different symbols (while working mountain halls and dark fortresses have just one symbol which changes color based on population, forest retreats have two different symbols and towns have four different symbols indicating population size).
Forest retreat ruins are yellow, town ruins are light gray, mountain hall ruins are white, and dark fortress ruins (the ones people are talking about here) are dark gray.

Dumb question How exactly does one build a temple?  Is it all implied or do I need to make statues until one is of an god(or FSM/whatever) and make that a room?

That's what DF needs, The gutbuster brigade.  Screw that elf and his cat. Thibbledorf Pwent is the real hero.

Temples are things the NPCs build. I think w/ a player fortress there's no way to designate such.
