You'd need a lot of food.

Or, if you were really crazy, a freestyle race across a full-sized world.  No fast-travel, but you can take any path you want.

I: Ways to obtain food while traveling (hunt/gather)
II.B.2: Way to build shelter/home and ability to save it as a permanent site

And then you could make a little cottage to the mountaintop and live there alone, trying to get your living from mountaingoats and dodge the giant eagles. What a game would that be!

SimProspector - Build a lean-to in the mountains, kill and eat varmints, dig for gold (gold I tells ya!), and take it down to town to trade.

It sounds stupifingly boring, but I'm amazed that in a matter of months it'll actually exist.  DF is the best game ever.

Just add individual teeth as bodyparts and get a few of yours gouged out.  Bang-presto, instant accent!

Somebody needs to set the temperature really high so that during, the night, everything is fine but just really hot and when dawn (or summer for forts) arrives, everything not underground catches fire. Anybody knows how the world gen temps compare to regular df temperatures?

10050 or so is the body temperature of most living things.  20000 or so daytime temperature should make stuff catch on fire.

Embark anywhere + 1x1 fortresses + extreme temperatures = interesting mad-dashes to the safehouses to survive the nights/days.

Somebody please make a save where they creates a lodge for every world tile on the way to the peak, and creates a small fortress on the peak with a small place to leave any precious objects.

...

I'd play it.
And my one dude would make a huge, epic fort to end all huge, epic forts.
All by himself, in the middle of nowhere on top of a mountain.
Years of gametime later, adventurers would find this random fort of which there were no records or legends, with a single tomb hidden impossibly deep in the basement.

Doesn't sound boring to me :)  Especially, uh, after trolls or whatever moved in.

This gives me an interesting idea... that Embark Anywhere utility could be used to create a mountaintop fortress. Would be an interesting goal, especially if there was an artifact weapon hidden in it's depths.

Adventuring through dungeons would be awesome. Shame I've never touched Fortress mode before ^^

Is anyone willing to put some time into making a dungeon specifically for adventuring?

I climbed up a mountain in a freshly-generated pocket world. Using a plain swordsman (that is, with no training past whet you get when you create him) I got to the top easily. On the way down I ran into a giant eagle, but killed it with little problem. Later, though...

I didn't know hits to the head could do this.
