Can I sign up for a turn? I'm sort of new at Dwarf Fortress, only at it a few weeks, but I bet I'll be able to do alright, as long as you don't expect any massive water-works from me...

New question! If I were to remove elves [INTELLIGENT] tag in the raws, would it work?

That last gobbo would stand there, missing an arm, punctured in a kidney, liver, and spleen, fading in and out of consciousness at the far end of where the drawbridge would go, and his last sight would be the drawbridge dropping down and smashing him like a bug.

Captain Affys Log 1055

1st Hematite
I have ordered the miners to create two new stockpiles for the workshops, and one near the Trade depot for our gods.
Later we are going to create a barrack where a stockpile for weapons and armor will be placed.

11th Hematite
The Humans came today. Hopefully we can get an anvil so that our weapons and armor production started.
Told Scruga that I wanted to arm our soldiers soon. He gave me a concerned look and asked about armor. I told him then that something would be fixed.
Kib has gotten out of the bed, maybe it was because I started to joke around asking if I should remove his wound with my axe.

23rd Hematite
I traded away all the narrow goblin items to the humans, for lots of wood, leather, clothes, food, and an anvil.
Unfortunatly they had no boose. Atleast now the forges are up and running.

24th Malachite
It has been very quiet here lately. The dining room is getting ready and the new stockpiles are comming along nicely.
Unfortunatly one of our metalworkers has been killed today by the Hammerer as we could not create any platinum objects.

8th Galena
The days are creeping by. Nothing new or exiting is happening. I am humoring myself by going out to kill some of the predators that wanders around here now and then, but it does not compare to killing an ogre or goblin.

9th Galena
Damn Baronss has ordered some platinum objects to be created... HOW? We have no platinum, did she not get it the last time?

1st Limestone
As Autumn aproaches we have finnished the last food stockpile. It is for all our unfinnished food. Our prepared food now goes down to the dining halls along with our drinks. Now I just have to finish the dining hall.

16th Limeston
All is quiet now. The Dwarf caravan just arrived at our doors and the crafts of Keldor is being carried out to them.

3rd Sandstone
Well we managed to reach the platinum deadline, but now we have to make catapult parts. Damn nobles.

22nd Sandstone
The traders left today. We sent them away with tons of Keldors crafts. We got some metal bars form them, some steel armor, and the other usual stuff.

23rd Sandstone
We are going to get another beating if I can't get the jail finnished. The Baroness wants clear glass windows in her tomb, and since we are lacking sand that won't be happening soon.

15th Timber
We have some prisson cells now, so hopeflly the hammerer won't have to deliver a beating anymore.

1st Moonstone
Winter has arrived. Hopefully it will also bring some action to as this year has been very quiet.

17th Moonstone
A kobold was caught outside today. Erush our siege operator killed it with his bare hands. You must love such dedication.
Momuz one of our woodcutters also dedicted his axe to some macaques today by severing their heads from their bodies.
Even I got to join in the fun here. My axe has been wanting to feel some blood and now it finaly got it.

3rd Opal
Our baroness has gotten herself a son. Hopefully he will not be as demanding as his mother.

13th Opal
The new barracks is finished. I must say that I am verry happy with how it turned out.

10th Obsidian
As the last month of my renewed leadership here at Lithrushsazir is nearing its zenith, I must say that I have reached almost all of my goals. The stocpiles have been placed better, our soldiers are starting to wear metal armor and weapons, and lastly the nobles are soon satisfied with their living conditions.
Now I just have to place the second catapult.

19th Obsidian
Mafol one of our royal guards has given birth to a baby girl. I hope this doesn't stop her from doing her job, if so I will have to make some changes.

24th Obsidian
I just realised that one of the engravings in my new office is of me striking down Sazir or Muthkat... Those bastards.

1st Granite
Now I can return to my regular work as militia leader. We now have a healthy number of guardsmen militia in our fortress who will spar with the regular soldiers. If any soldiers are neded these are the men and women that we will use.
Other than that we need to enlarge our prison in case we need more cells.

It's not the hammerers fault. They simply follow orders. Maybe the dwarf who issued the mandate is the one who needs to be punished, although you should check if they have friends to avoid tantrums.

Well you have to kill royalty to get even here. Remeber to keep Captain Affy in her position, or you'll get an axe in your head instead of an hammer. :P

oh boy, economy, that's always a blast.
Maybe I'll arrange for the nobles to have new, magnificent quarters with, say, a personal waterfall that has the unfortunate tendency to... malfunction...

Or, for a real challenge, I could try to make them happy. Wasted effort to be sure, they'll probably find some new and horrible way to screw me if I go through the trouble, like making friends with half the fortress then feeding themselves to a carp.

Anyway, I'm downloading now, I'll probably take a bit to get the hang of the layout and all, then I should get started, 'net willing.

If all goes well, I should have my turn done and all by, say, 20ish hours from now.
(laughter in the background)
Hopefully casualties will be low.  ;)

Check the map Scruga and you'll see that I actualy used the wodden-stone-metala fortification.
