As I read through this topic, I promised myself I wouldn't make one of those "I joined because of Nist Akath" posts, but having finally reached the end I feel obliged too.

Nist Akath is the reason I'm still interested in DF. Well, Nist Akath and Boatmurdered.

Obligatory joined-for-this-thread comment goes here.

Caught a passing mention of DF while looking up NetHack on TVTropes.org. Clicked. Lol'd at the article. Read Boatmurdered. Attempted to read Nist Akath. Realized Nist Akath was a forum thread and therefore less easily tackled in between periods of productivity at work. Read it anyway. ALL TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY-EIGHT PAGES WORTH.

And here it is, and here I am, and here we are. Anything I could possibly say has been said repeatedly, but who cares; DF is about ridiculous excess, and in Nist Akath that excess is given form in sheer, unmitigated, unadulterated, pure bottled-at-the-source unrefined and bloody tasty ASSKICK.

Well done Cap'n. That DF permits itself to be used as a medium for such intricate storytelling is one thing; actually telling such an intricate story, and telling it well, is another. I look forward to the conclusion, whenever that may be.
