Turn 5

The wolves continue their scientific inquiries, pondering ever deeper on myriads of subjects. Food stocks drop to an all time low but a noisy rainfall promises much bounty.

Spoiler: The Sixth Pack: Status (click to show/hide)

Play Rainfall using labor(-3 labor)
Play Exotic Plant(-1 labor, +2 food)

Spoiler: Cards in Play (click to show/hide)

End turn

(Ah the god players have manifested. I swear I have not got a single prayer card so far; hopefully, it's just a bit of bad luck cuz I think it would be pretty hard to go without supernatural help.)

As a general rule, if a card says you can pay civilians, that means just the labor for the turn.
If a card says you lose civilians, that means they would be dead.

Turn 8 Start

Civilians: 5/5
Food: 6
Science: 0
Wood: 1
Cards in Play: Ancient Knowledge: Hunting (3 science)

Play Ghostly Directions:
-1 Labor +2 Food
Play Idea using Labor: -1 Labor +1 Science
Play Survival: -1 Labor +2 Food
Play Safe Haven: -2 Labor +Safe Haven
Apply 1 science to hunting: -1 Science
Discard Animalism using Safe Haven: +1 food Discard Animalism

End Turn
Upkeep: 5 food from pop
Discard: None

Civilization Name: Qajen
Civilians: 0/5
Food: 6
Science: 0
Wood: 1
Cards in Play: Ancient Knowledge: Hunting (4 science) | Safe Haven

The scent of smoke, the whisper of fire. The priests declared a message from those lost to the flames, and lead the Qajen to hidden grotto. There the tribes found a safe place that could, for now at least, feed and shelter them.

Animalism is interesting, but whew baby it's expensive. Gota have a good animal themed god feeding you cards just to be worth the upkeep.

Hey Supernerd, a small accounting question: Does Safe Haven count as a blue-background card?
Also, is it allowed to do what i did here—using the labor of a pop that would be lost as a result of the turn?

Spoiler: Zihsal'has (click to show/hide)

Turn
Play Safe Haven
Discard Scavenging using Safe Haven for 1 food
Play Aquatic Bounty
Play Kill The Beast using Pop

Field

Agriculture(1)

End Turn
A journey fraught with peril. They grieved for the ones lost to the beast, but the sacrifice was not in vain. For the salamanders now had a place to call home, and would be fed for a while to come.

Expected status at the start of next turn:
Spoiler: Zihsal'has (click to show/hide)
Population: 7 -> 6 (7 - 1(Kill The Beast))
Food: 10 -> 17 (10 + 1(Safe Haven Effect) + 2(Aquatic Bounty) + 10(Kill The Beast) - 6(Upkeep))
Science: 0 -> 0

(Welp. That didn't last long. Back to 6 pop.)

Flaps a wing. You can play it and just not pay upkeep. Which is great when I need FP to draw a new hand of cards. Hope you like the Safe Haven.

On that note, out of FP. All my starting cards have been made too. Along with Haven. I made that given your food issues, nice it got put into the general decks. And also why I just made my last card, since I don't need a hand for it to be of use.

Our turn scales are a bit different, so will get a new hand in a bit. Gods can only give 1 card to each player (per turn?), and they get given at the start of your next turn. No clue on what Supernerd says to saying which I've given ahead of time?

Suppose we'll see if these new gods can stack up. Cards can get expensive for gods to make beyond the base set, so put your best claw forward if you have one.

So we have you to thank for the Safe Haven card, Tric?

I think I have misunderstood how it works.

I thought "remove this from the game" means a permanent change, making it impossible to draw again? Because previous cards that destroy permanent cards said destroy a card in play. So I thought that starting it up was a big permanent decision and commitment. But now that you say it, I guess it could be read as just this instance of the card is removed?

If it's just a free 1 fp... Whoops, might have been worth playing (although with the inability to upkeep it, it's just a single fp, so not too much of a loss.)

Is Safe Haven your 0 Star card? And animalism a generic religious card? Haven is certainly good and useful, so thanks for it! I'm somewhat excited to see what your future cards do.

Using it to get food is perfectly fine with me. Anamilism was my 0 Star Starter. I got another as my 1 Star, but haven't seen it yet. (It's a bit obvious who it's from.) Safe Haven was made in direct response to the FP bomb and cost 2 FP. And I got my 2 Star in the pipe from the FP I regened last night.

Animalism basically speeds up my FP. (I'm asking Supernerd if my interpretation of it is correct though. Since pay at the end of each turn and gain FP at the turn end.. Might work the way you thought it did, in retrospect..)

Turn 6

Spoiler: The Sixth Pack: Status (click to show/hide)

Play Foraging(-2 labor, +3 food)
Play Foraging(-2 labor, +3 food)
Play Prayer for Black Owl(-1 labor, +2 FP for Black Owl)

Impatience comes into play using card Idea(Idea removed from hand)

Activate safe haven: Discard Illusion(+1 food, -2 labor)

Spoiler: Cards in Play (click to show/hide)

End turn
Upkeep deducted(-7 food)

Spoiler: The Sixth Pack: Status (click to show/hide)

The rainfall promotes the abundance of prey across the grassland, much enjoyed by the pack. A mysterious Black Owl leads one of the men to a sanctuary where more subsistence is discovered. One of the Wolfmen thanks the Black Owl for his aid, staying awake all day and night to show his gratitude. Meanwhile, impatience causes a halt to the addition to knowledge for the time being, but soon it may resume twice as much pace.

@Supernerd: We have to pay 2 labor cost of card Safe Haven every turn we use it, correct?
To God Players: Anybody gonna claim Illusion and Impatience? They have similar background color, like Animalism and Safe Haven, so I'm assuming they are the work of a God. Also, if I get more prayer cards, I'll pray to other gods as well so to say... keep the pack in good regards.

I'm assuming you don't have to pay for Ancient Knowledge, so... (Would be pretty bad if you had to since it's 1 food for a discard and two labor.)

I'm not sure whose those are. Just that one of them was given and one drawn.
