I feel I need to point out that Playing a card does NOT trigger its on-discard effect, because it was played and not discarded. So it would either kill a civilian OR burn the forest.

I wonder what else I missed pointing out.

If I'm understanding what you're saying correctly that's how I've been playing it. Probably some confusion? I've been recording the "labor" costs of cards as "civilians" and permanent changes to my population as "population". So in this case -1 Civilian -Forest means it took one labor to spend the card to destroy the forest. Perhaps I should swap to labor or something less confusing.

Turn 3
Firstly I need to point out that I forgot to deduct the 1 food I spent to activate Kill the Beast in turn 1.

Starting civ status:
Civilization Name: Torkal League
Population: 4
Food: 33

Play Reproduction (-5 food)
Play Reproduction (-5 food)

Ending civ status:
Civilization Name: Torkal League
Population: 4 + 2*2(Reproduction) => 8
Food: 33 -8(Population) - 2*5(Reproduction) => 15

End Turn

Another thing. The option to "Pay 3 food" does not include the 2 food cost of the card itself. So you would either have -2 food or -5 food for each.

With food dwindling and few opportunities on the horizon, some salamander folk turn their head toward the heavens. If it is to bear fruit, it must do so with haste, lest it be too late.

I'm going to guess that as a inefficient version of research project that ancient knowledge is suppose to be red bordered?

Also I think I'm going to use corpseblight instead of scouting. Should I open up the scouting spoilers or draw new ones in this situation?

Ancient Knowledge is indeed supposed to have a Red border, and will going forward.
On a related note, its probably a good idea to make sure I am up to date on how much you invest in Research Projects. Wouldn't want me to miss that.

I had a thought, about card draw cards. Since it's real nice for them to not break the flow of the game. But you gota trust people and they are sorta awkward with card draw that draws into card draw. So, idea, what if card draw cards drew cards for next turn instead? I dunno if it'd be worth swapping midstream (if it's even a good idea) but maybe?

Supernerd, two questions:
  • Regarding the Migration card, can I still play it when Persistant Predator is reducing my labor by one?
  • If I spend the two resources to get rid of Persistant Predator, do I get back the labor in the same turn?
