Aren't we expecting the First Mate back here with the Navigator? Perhaps we should exchange idle small talk until they arrive.

"So I was meaning to ask, you know each other, that is a given, but whereas did you-"

"Roberto here was the first purser of Santa Julia, on the first two voyages. Then he got a promotion well worth his skills at management!"

"Ah, Xavier, you flatter me."

"Nonsense, Captain Lapeira personally vouched for you, and look, you did get the job!"

"That, and I bet, my uneasiness whenever we took to violent seas."

"Well, and that." The two share a laugh, and soon the door opens.

"Whereas this good mood coming from?" Says the First Mate, entering with the Navigator right behind him.

"Reminiscence, nostalgia for older times, my friend!"

"Always a good thing. Captain Finley! Here, our navigator." The Navigator nods.

"Captain, I have brought the map from your quarters."

"Ah, let me..." Roberto quickly pushes away some clutter at his desk, allowing Alberto to sprawl the map on it.

"The route the First Mate told me was, from here to Sebastias, then Copana, Guidea, Las Argentas, Pointas, Nuova Lusia, Aridias, and to Santa Maria, correct?"

"Aye."

"Well then-" The Navigator draws his finger across the map. "Assuming winds and sea on our side, to Sebastias five days, to Copana, at sidewinds, another five or six. Then alongside winds to Guidea, I wager we could be within two days, then to Las Argentas at least three, same to Pointas, then Nuova Lusia, and Aridias. We cut through Columbian Bay and with the winds, for six or seven days voyage."

"A whole month of thirty days." The Purser quips, having done the math.

"On ideal winds and calm waves, and given no pirates, accidents, storms, vile beasts or whatever other surprises the cranky old Ouronos might have in his underwater stores for us."

"Don't forget the return journey from there to Lusia - that's at the very least twenty days alone. But probably more."

"Just a scant some days to spare before the Charter expires its most beneficial of terms for the Company." You and others agree.

A) "We must waste no more time, then! To the markets!"
B) "Wait, I have a question about... (insert topic here)"

"We must waste no more time, then! To the markets!" The others of your crew nod and Roberto rolls up the map, passing it back to the Navigator.

"Ah, Luis, Xavier - would I see you tonight for some drinks?"

"We shall see if we got the time, but we will remember the offer!"

They all exchange some smirks, no doubt up to no good, and then the Company Man leads you outside, locks his office, and then walks you to the market.

"I remember that there's Fruitbrew demand in the town. Mayhaps someone should ask around the establishments?" The First Mate takes his hat off.

"I volunteer! I shall take good Roberto and we will check the ones of good reputation and the lesser ones too."

"Me and Alberto will take care of good Captain on the market." The First Mate nods in agreement and thus leaves on his quest to find Fruitbrew buyers.

A while later, you and your two officers are talking with the Market Keeper of Saint Alonso.

Quote from: Saint Alonso Market
Chewleaf: 200 Sacks (20 SL) priced 950 Ducats each.
Greenspice: 320 Coffers (16 SL) priced 400 Ducats each.
Redleaf: 150 Sacks (15 SL) priced 370 Ducats each.
Sugar: 590 Sacks (59 SL) priced 60 Ducats each.

Saint Alonso Market is willing to buy Company Textiles and Company Alcohols for Company Guaranteed Values.

"Of these, Redleaf and Sugar are in season, therefore their price is very low at the moment, Captain."

A) Sell (insert cargo here).
B) -
C) Consult the Ledger.

So this is what we have in our hold. We'd need to sell stuff before buying anything, to make room.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I suggest we sell everything in the hold except the Fruitbrew, which we can try to ask around the pubs as was suggested?

That'll clear hold space for the Sugar and Redleaf which we should fill up on.

I'd suggest keeping 5-10 Barrels of each on hand, just in case we trip over a REALLY good deal on selling one, but otherwise agree.

Good question... looking at it we know that sugar from Mediana ends up in Sebastias. What that means for the buy price there I'm not sure. I agree with Abe that we should keep more barrels on hand in case of great prices elsewhere... but in order to maximise profit I think we do want to make a reasonably high volume of trades, right?

My only worry is that we end up with a hold of Goods that we can't shift to make room for the Blackspice.

Perhaps we sell half of everything except Fruitbrew (pending that special deal our guys are looking into)? "Company Guaranteed Values" sounds like the minimum we can expect to sell for.

OK, that sounds like a plan.

Sell
15 Barrels of Twosewn, Company valued at 600 Ducats a Barrel
25 Barrels of Softfeel, Company valued at 400 Ducats a Barrel
72 Barrels of Grapedrink, Company valued at 280 Ducats a Barrel
50 Barrels of Strongsugar, Company valued at 520 Ducats a Barrel

"We shall be selling 15 barrels of Twosewn, 25 barrels of Softfeel, 72 barrels of Grapedrink and 50 barrels of Strongsugar, all at company value." The Market Keeper agrees and the Purser quickly writes this all in his ledger.

"A total profit of sixty-five thousand and one hundred sixty Ducats, Captain." The Purser and the Market Keeper then arrange for his henchmen and Santa Julia sailors to unload the sold cargo.

The Navigator looks around for any sign of Roberto the Company Man and Luis the First Mate, alas, there's none yet.

A) Now we buy (insert trade good here).
B) Let's sell some more of (insert trade good here).
C) Consult the Ledger.

I believe that's freed up 23 SL of space. So...

A Buy all 150 sacks (15 SL) of Redleaf, and 80 sacks (8 SL) of Sugar. We may come back for more Sugar if we end up selling that Fruitbrew.
