At what point in processing does a psychoactive substance become synthetic? Second step and beyond?
Any processing makes it more artificial, and therefore, with psychoactives, your mind more artificial. Evolution produces ties and interrelationships between species, lab experiments diminish those ties, novelty loses touch with complex reality. Plus there are other alkaloids in psychoactive plants than the isolated trip catalyst, which stabilise or round off the trip, like CBD in marijuana.

That means basically everything humans do is synthetic. You don’t go from farm to plate without a processing step between there somewhere. Does that mean the body is artificial from the various foods we eat?

As for drugs, in order to actually consume them, there has to be a step to prepare it, even if that step is just to burn it or put it in food.

It is a ridiculous argument that synthetic drugs are more (or less!) dangerous than “natural” drugs, particularly considering the first paragraph. Paracetamol and aspirin are processed to shit, are they worse for you than whatever you do with coca, or cannabis buds?

(...)

If you drink apple juice instead of eating apples, or eat seedless grapes, you lose fibre, increasing the junk in your bowels, making your body less natural.

Cooking is a natural production of man. Cannabis seeds would contain enough oil to make the buds potent when cooked. Some fruits will ferment naturally if their skin isn't ruptured. Coca leaves just need to be chewed. Psilocybin mushrooms don't need any preparation besides identification.

You can overdose on paracetamol and aspirin but not on cannabis.

You can overdose on anything dude. Water is essential for life, there is such a thing as water intoxication.

...the Companies also neuter the seeds, so you can't grow Fruit without paying them.

I feel like NS just made a new account because they knew it'd get their thread more engagement than if it was just another one of his.

Unlikely. NS has an impressive Thread Creation rate that is worth more than anything to him.

What a pile of new-age bullshit. There is nothing about "artificial" things that is inherently bad. It's the same chemicals as your body and plants produce, and all chemicals of a given formula are completely the same. There is similarly nothing mystical about evolution that would produce some kind of tenuous "interrelationships". Evolution is merely the result of selection pressures that act upon random mutations. It's not a conscious process by, well, anything.

Maybe the chemicals are the same, but the production of synthetic chemicals makes the world less habitable, while the production organically makes it more habitable.
There is species intelligence, it's 1 in a million that a random mutation will be synergistic enough with the world to succeed. So nature is one big evolutionary intelligence. We have cannabinoid receptors and nicotinic receptors and psilocybin resembles seratonin, that suggests interrelationships to me, or at least ties to a common ancestor, its true we produce chemicals that bind to the cannabinoid receptors endogenously.
Absolute luck - luck absolutely - is choice. It's the sperm that gets the egg that chooses to live most. Or nature chooses the luckiest as the most fit to thrive.

I still didn't dare to click the link but why even do the sidesplit between those preconceptions and stuff like:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You don't give off the impression to have any clear agenda, but if you were novel, it's like the questions have been replaced by an allmost random collection of strong opinions that would like to represent an internally coherent worldview but don't quite get there.

Now I do wonder what our Tay would be had it been trained by all the threads he opened. Quick: what objects do we steal from the past again?

Those receptors, they're basically little more than geometric shapes that happen to fit together. That they would cause such dramatic effects is kind of mystefying (oh what an orthographical nightmare is this word, how did I get it right with that attempt) but ultimately bears no deeper meaning, not on it's own without throwing the ole flesh languagemodel at it. We just get to mess with our brains, kinda like injecting custom payloads. Your problem if you void the warranty.

Like mutations, it's one in a million hard drugs will have synergistic effects.
