"CSHHHHHHHHHH, CSHHHHHHHHHH~" .... "CSHHHHHHHHHHHH~." ....

WindKnight probably should have mentioned he was deafened too, but it had slipped his mind. He sure would have appreciated it had he been aware!

Lumi: Put down the urn and look around the tomb some more.

The rest of the tomb is pretty barren, without any grave-goods or other valuables worth taking. Poor Antikytherans were buried with personal items, but the person who commissioned this tomb was far from poor and so such a paucity is exceptional.

Snowman.exe: Try to recover the data from the defeated Trumpy!

Easy Coding: [1] [6] [6] - Success!

Snowman easily parses the mystery data left behind by the musical virus. The program is for a Fanfare battlechip, which is dutifully downloaded and readied. Sadly it's too late to protect WindKnight with it but no doubt it will come in handy in the future.

WindKnight Action: Try to use bravery to calm his nerves if necessary. Then, he backs into the mushroom patch and aims an AirShot chip at this feet, intending to create a cloud of covering spores!

Kauko Action: Attempts to get rid of the exposed frequency now that he has the data, to hide WindKnight!

Normal Info: [1] [5] [6] - Success!

Kauko juggles his coding with preparing the AirShot chip for WindKnight to use. The shot burst several mushrooms and scatters their spores in all directions, creating an obscuring cloud. The Cragger's swings are too wide for this concealment to hamper it, but the Needler will certainly have trouble making a clear shot.

Score moves near WindKnight and uses Bodyguard for both attacks(-2 Bravery!) If possible, she will A. prepare to Reflect the incoming ranged attack, and B. summon some of her Element for later use!

Bodyguard: -1 Bravery.

Normal Affinity: [6] [6] - Success!

As she prepares to defend WindKnight against the viruses, Score summons a chunk of hardlight to use later. On the underpowered Antikytheran server it isn't actually transparent, but is instead a solid light-blue texture shaded to pretend that it's transparent. Its lowered graphical settings doesn't make it any less tough or useful.

ShroomMan.EXE: Use Alt to turn a larger mushroom that's closest to the Cragger into a Mushroom Man to run towards Cragger and get in its way of moving closer to anyone.

Normal Affinity: [1] [1] [4] [6] [6] [6] - Critical Success!

Not many mushrooms remain and so ShroomMan is forced to merge the remaining ones together to form his Mushroom Man. However the resulting minion is even larger than the already massive virus and almost as tough. It doesn't run so much as lumber, but the Cragger can hardly avoid its massive bulk as it puts itself between the virus and the Navis.

Quote from: Cragger A
Advance!

As the Cragger pushes against the minion and swings it club at WindKnight, Score pushes him away to take the blow instead.

Hard Strength vs Normal Stamina: [4] [5] [5] [6] [6] vs [1] [2] [2] [2] [6] - 1 Damage!

The massive virus's swings are hampered by the Mushroom Man, so instead of sending Score flying it only manages to land a glancing blow on the Navi. It will need to do far more than than that before Score is in any serious danger.

Quote from: Needler
Shoot!

Bodyguard: -1 Bravery.

Now it's the Needler's turn to attack WindKnight and once more Score pushes him in to take the blow instead.

Hard Sense vs Normal Stamina: [1] [2] [3] [6] vs [2] [4] [4] [5] [6] - Parried! 3 Damage!

Score not only manages to defend WindKnight, but also brings up her sword against the virus's needles. She deftly reflects several of them in succession and proves to be a more accurate shot than the Needler, as the reflected projectiles impact against its shell one after another. The Needler explodes in a flurry of sprites, leaving behind a chunk of mystery damage like all of the other viruses.

Spotlight Refreshed!

Whether due to Kauko's hacking or the program finally running out of energy, the blaring light in front of WindKnight's face finally dissipates. Even if it continued to work, it's unlikely that the Cragger would still be interested in. Faced with something bigger and stronger than it, the virus lets out a roar and begins to grapple with the Mushroom Man. The minion will probably last a while without assistance, thanks to its excellent construction and bulk.

A few broken mushrooms and a dusting of spores are all that is left of ShroomMan's forest. Any further shroom shenanigans will require further growth.

Spotlight:
Damian Lowell/ShroomMan.EXE
Kauko Lehtonen/WindKnight.EXE
Lumi Lehtonen/Snowman.EXE
-/Score.EXE

Threats:
Cragger A 5/5: Grappling with Mushroom Man.
Cragger B: Deleted.
Needler: Deleted.

WindKnight felt blessed recovery as his senses returned fully. Taking stock of the situation, it seemed the battle was well in hand...Kaukos momentary query about his function would quickly be replaced with calls for more data harvesting, no doubt...but if Kaukos virocomnicom was any indication, the cragger potentially had a particular battlechip he would quite enjoy having.

A double incantation he began-to support any allies spirits, and to gather a suitable trophy from his former rocky foe.

"Hardly a worthy opponent, but I do thank you for the challenge."  WindKnight said as way of epitaph.

Combined Action: WindKnight goes to recover the data from the fallen Cragger using ManualInput! WindKnight will rally anyone who uses a soul roll!

Might as well take the shot while it's here, Snowman thought, leveling his rifle at the Cragger's back.

Snowman: Take a shot at the Cragger to help out ShroomMan.

"As I thought." Score swung her blade upward at nothing, seemingly, before she dashed toward their remaining foe once more. As her sword came down,  light spiked upward from the trace she'd left a moment ago, aiming to hold the Cragger in place to ensure her strike was decisive.

Score uses her element to hold the Cragger in place while she launches a melee attack!

WindKnight gestured and his energy mote flew to join Scores tracer line, infusing the color and brightness of her holograms light blue glow with a warm honey gold.

His own light dimmed a bit more in response.

WindKnight grew impatient at ShroomMan, who was either lagging or lazy. He was a great help when he was motivated...

"...ShroomMan, attack! Don't just stand there like a mushroom stalk!"

Hopefully, it would remind him he had a bubbler chip.

"A mushroom stalk does not stand, it is rooted. But I know it's hard to notice the difference between these two states for people who only lived with feet. You see, a mushroom..."
"Explain later."

To shut him up preemptively, Damian fished a Bubbler Chip out of his belt pocket and slotted it in. Predictably (to a certain degree at least), a blue cannon extends out of ShroomMan.EXE's mushroom cap, targeting the remaining Cragger and spraying a cloud of bubbles in its direction.

"Heh, that tickles!"

Combined Action: WindKnight goes to recover the data from the fallen Cragger using ManualInput! WindKnight will rally anyone who uses a soul roll!

Normal Coding: [1] [2] [3] [5] - Mixed Success

Given the age of the server, it's no surprise that the information in the mystery data needs some clean-up. Eventually Kauko will have access to an Antikytheran BronzeFist battlechip, but for now it needs several more hours of processing.

Snowman: Take a shot at the Cragger to help out ShroomMan.

Normal Sense vs Normal Stamina: [4] [5] [5] [6] vs [1] [3] [3] [3] [6] - 2 Damage!

The Cragger might be held back by the mushroom minion but its body is as rocky and tough to damage. Snowman.EXE doesn't care however, as he easily lines up his shot and blasts several chunks out of the statuesque virus.

Score uses her element to hold the Cragger in place while she launches a melee attack!

Normal Strength vs Normal Stamina: [1] [6] [6] [6] vs [2] [3] [4] [4] [6] - 2 Damage!

Score doesn't need to use her element to hold the virus in place while it is still grappling with the mushroom minion. Her sword slashes through the virus's tough body, leaving behind a large gouge.

Damian/ShroomMan.EXE: Slot in Bubbler Chip against the Cragger

2 Damage vs Normal Stamina: 2 vs [1] [1] [2] [4] [5] - 1 Damage!

Bubbles are clearly highly effective against rock as a spray of bubbles impact the overly-large virus. It begins to let out a roar before bursting into a ring of twinkling sprites, just like all of its comrades. And just like its comrades it leaves behind a chunk of mystery data, ripe for harvesting.

With all of the viruses defeated, the Navis are free to explore the memorial. Two chunks of mystery data remain, one from the freshly deleted Cragger and one from the Needler virus. At the far end of the memorial is a series of terminals. Unless there is a hidden room, the electronic lock must be disabled by one of them.

The mushroom minion, its objective completed, trudges over to ShroomMan.EXE and bounces on its legs like an excited puppy after completing a trick.

WindKnight sends the valuable BronzeFist away to his armory-after a little data polishing, it should be good as new!

"All is well that ends well...the room is ours, comrades. Well done everyone!"

WindKnight went to process the Needler next...odd, it seemed to have been destroyed by its own projectiles...

Action: WindKnight goes to clean up the remaining two pieces of virus data! Needler, then Cragger!

>WindKnight appears to be collecting the data. Exploring the rest of the area now.

"Thank you for the assistance, everyone. WindKnight, how do you fare?" He seemed fine for the moment, so she didn't stop to concern herself overmuch, instead moving ahead toward the terminals at the end of the room to investigate.

WindKnight brought up his floating HUD,  which looked like a huge book,  and turned the page. It showed no pressing issues except for his now nearly empty chip folder, and a small chunk of his soul energy was depleted.

"...My armor has not a scratch upon it, thanks to your efforts, and both the exposedfrequency trap and the unfortunate side effect of removing it, have faded away entirely. My resources are somewhat strained...I used most of my arsenal of chips, and a bit of magic, but I should be fine for another brawl."

Normal Coding: [1] [1] [2] [4] - Failure

Normal Coding: [3] [3] [5] [5] - Success!

Kauko manages to snag an Antikytheran DizzyHit battlechip from the Cragger's data, but the Needler's own is too corrupted and choppy to recover any battlechips. The usable scraps could probably be sold for 500 zenny and a text dump turned up some interesting strings.

He seemed fine for the moment, so she didn't stop to concern herself overmuch, instead moving ahead toward the terminals at the end of the room to investigate.

The terminals should hold information about the lives of the people interred in the tomb, but with only one urn occupying it the list of options was quite short.

The font of the terminals are noticeably pixelated but are rendered as black on parchment. More than a few ancient Kytherans decided that yellow on green or something similar were appropriate for terminals. Thankfully tastes have advanced in the centuries since.

"Most curious. I have no idea what this means! Clearly they are names...perhaps mourners? Or are they buried here as well...it could be a code, I suppose..."

...

WindKnight knew SnowMan had sophisticated revealing magics available to him. Perhaps he could help search?

"SnowMan, might you utilize your skills to uncover buried secrets with me? My eyes are not as sharp as they once were!"

...

Meanwhile, Kauko finally took his eyes off the pet-he had been decoding and chipping pretty strenuously over the short time they'd been here, and his eyes needed a short rest. A blue can of soda with a huge 'E' on the side (the old reliable) revealed itself from his backpack, and a tab was popped.

Su-gar!

He noticed the urn Lumi had left aside. Not a waffler by nature, his immediate instinct was to pop open the wax seal with his pen knife. Thomas would bemoan the loss of value, but the chip inside could be worth more. And Kauko knew very well the people they sold the urn too wouldn't be all that worthy anyway. For all he knew it would be sold to VDP and end up gathering dust in one of Agarthi Laconias mansions. So he didn't mind getting all the value he could from it.

"...Hey, is anyone else thirsty? I brought drinks! I'm also thinking of popping open this urn...but, we're sort of a team, so should we put it to a vote? It'll make Thomas happy to sell it whole. Though, he'll probably just open it and get the chip inside himself. He'll still have to pay us in full. Do we take the guaranteed Zenny, or gamble on it containing something useful?"

...

While he waited for their responses, he considered the list WindKnight and he had found. Something about it tickled the back of his mind...archaeology wasn't a serious passion of his, but he'd always loved learning about the history of the net and how it connected to the real world. Data flowed like water, and the places it occupied-or the gaps it did not-could tell you a lot about how people had lived. So he had naturally picked up a lot of interesting, if not useful, facts.

For example, it was theorized that ancient net-op archers had carried quasi-digital 'thunder-arrows', and warriors carried 'cloud-daggers'. They'd use these weapons to pierce the hulls of war machines and ancient suits of tech-armor. While few ancient weapons could penetrate such armor directly, the arrows acted as brute force jack-in ports for the Warrior Navi hiding inside, who'd suddenly emerge and proceed to wreck the place-fighting the defensive programs to reach the vulnerable computing core.

At least, that was the theory. They knew very little about how ancient wars were truly fought.

WindKight Action: Count the number of alcoves along the wall and peer inside of them to see if they have anything that might have something to do with the list he found, or anything interesting otherwise.

Kauko Action: Unless there are objections, open that urn for the juicy and/or worthless battlechip inside!

Additional: Spend my History Buff (Net) talent for this 'session' to learn something about the list!

"Let me take a look at this." Snowman followed Score back to the terminals.

Snowman: attempt to hack the terminal!
Lumi: Keep the urn away from Kauko, the zenny is more valuable than whatever's inside.
