The kitchenette mold free, you move on to the pantry. it's nasty in there. The bacon is grazing on the lettuce. The ham is having an illicit affair with the prime rib, The potatoes see all, know all. A rat in boxer shorts smoking a foul smelling cigar is banging on a cabinet shouting about rent money.

They'll probably try, but we're probably better at it than them!

Trence Colunstin uses Run!

It fails!

You turn and run, looking to lose the trio of bandits in the woods, you've played there many times, and know all the paths and trails... you'll certainly get away.  So many places to hide.

But you don't make it.  You slip on the mud and the bandits fall upon you.

..

When you awaken, you are sore all over, roughly held on your feet by chains, in a dismally dark wooden room.  There is a soft rocking, as if you are moving.

..You have to get out.  You cannot be locked away again.  It can't happen again.

There is a closed wooden door in front of you, but you can't get at it, you are chained to the wall.

..You have to get out.

Foot is itchy. Ascent-mindedly scratch foot, thus ripping chain out of the wall.

Check if any parts of the chains are rusty, if we can find some way to scrape off existing rust, allowing new rust to form, the chains will slowly rust away

You can't reach your feet!  These chains are strong!

Yeah, that's the idea.  You barely manage to bend enough to look at them..  And they're new!  The chains are new and solid and ahh!

You have to get out!

What are the chains connected to?  A wooden wall?  If so, do any of the wall sections look damaged or flimsy?

+1, we're probably on a ship or carriage so it's probably kinda creaky.

It's dark in here.. hard to be completely sure, but you think it's worse than that.  This isn't a normal room, it's like a cell.. or a cage.  The boards are tight to each other, and you think the chains are set through rings, as they have almost no play.

..And there's stains on the floor.

You have to get out!

You begin shouting and screaming, trying to make noise.  But it's muffled by the plank walls.  You think you might reach someone, so you keep trying, but only end up crying and sore, some from the shouting and some from your grief.

..You have to get out.

Calm down. Why is it so important that we get out right now?

Is there any slack in the hand manacles?  Maybe these manacles weren't designed for children.  If there's some room, we could try to slip our hands out using blood as a lubricant.

This is a bad place!  A bad place!  Nobody should be in here!  You should not be in here!

But.. you clench your teeth and eventually try to force yourself to not panic.  You think about uncle, his quiet home.  You think about your friends from your village, about Willis and your plan for next summer, where you were going to visit him!  You think about what you have learned and what you are capable of, going through the normal day you were just having, trying to get back into that mindset.

Maybe you can look at this as just a problem.  One where there is a solution, there has to be something.

That.. that might be possible.  They are a little loose, but not much, they're clearly meant for smaller people, if hopefully not children.  You have a bit of slack, and you're strong.

You pull, and pull.  The tightness of the other chains helps, as you can get some leverage, pull against them.  And it's three limbs pulling on one, as you squirm.  It doesn't take too long to cut your wrist, and the blood flowing, you think it helps, a little.

You pull, and pull, and then it stops moving.  It just hurts, your wrist hurts, your shoulder hurts, but you think you must be close, only needing a little more

There is a horrible pain from your hand as you dislocate your thumb and the wrist bones collapse to squeeze under the manacle.  You can't take it.

You're smaller now, lower to the floor, sitting on your hind feet.  The chains can't hold you like this, they're too big for your skinny limbs.  You can smell your blood, and other, old scents.  Bad scents, this is a bad place.

The walls do look strong, but you feel strong now, stronger than you ever have before.  You think you can claw your way out.

The door is another option.  It's locked from the other side, but there is some gap to work with.  Maybe you can break a corner or bend it enough to force it.

You could also wait.  They put a child in here, but they didn't put you in here.  They took you alive.  Sooner or later that door will open.  And you will be waiting and ready.  Right now you feel like you could wait forever.  You have to get out, but waiting is getting out.
