Really avoid the people doing the experiment. Keep an eye out for the effects, though... bringing a giant magical explosive to the Isle Perilous is kind of our style.


So... we know why the river peoples helped the Concordat. But we still don't know why the Concordat wanted to kill the dragons in the first place. Might be something we'll have to ask them in person.

There isn't too much to find, as there have been many visitors, but you're old pros at this and uncover a small cache of money.  Well, medium cache, really.

The experiment goes less well.  You are staying well away, but..

A few days later, you are awakened by an oppressive silence.  Your camp is surrounded by a thin curtain of silver, and outside is full of indistinct dark shapes with yellow eyes.

Ether way it sounds like we're in for a fight we should wait to see if they can get through the silver curtain before trying to engage.

You're out in the open.  You set up your camp on the second floor of a partially-wrecked building.  Good sight lines, a wall between you and the experiment, and enough space for your tents.

You buff up.. and nothing happens.  There are black shapes, but they don't do anything.

Indeed, upon more observation, you aren't even sure they're actually moving.

Uncle is working on his thamulator, and eventually Sess takes a look outside the circle, after poking it adventurely first.

Things are dark, yes, and the distance fades into a yellow-flecked wall of fog after a few hundred meters, but everything looks.. well, dark, but still fine.  Buildings are in place, walls are still standing, the ground seems intact, and plants and such are still where they were, although all oddly black in colour and surrounded by white lines.

Uncle speaks up.

"I think they managed to cast a buff or debuff over these entire ruins.  I don't know what this is, but it doesn't seem immediately fatal.  I do think we should leave it, though, no telling how long this is gonna last."

"Is it gonna last forever, like the shimmer on Diamond Lake?"

"Don't think so, but it's a big effect and will last a while."

"Do you think it got the ship?"

"All I'm sure is that it didn't affect the whole world.  Could have gotten our ship."

"Great.  So.."

What next?  Just blow this popsicle stand and return to your ship?  Try to do big damn heroes?  Go a-looting?
