East Side, Embers of the Past Turn 2 Revision Phase

Core Thread

While your state is but a shadow of its Glorious Past; not all things were lost entirely. What magic, technology, tradition, or story of old did your nation manage best to retain after The Fall?
(Note: Go nuts. Remember that this is about a Pre-Fall thing, though also remember that it need not have actually exist. Though do remember that the collapse of civilization, centuries of magic fading and a lack of infrastructure will have reaped its toll; so that what you design will almost certainly not be what you get. It will make an impact of course. Think MWAR/CAR Style. But in reverse. Alternatively, make something more appropriate for your starting tech level. Please don't subvert this prompt too badly I am new. This will be the only such prompt; future turns will be more normal.)

In addition, feel free to rename your initial Magic User, though try and avoid using Grand Names; this is purely a stylistic choice (and these mages are unspecialized weaklings). Finally, Lore Contest! Describe your nation, as it is. It's culture, it's lore, it's territory, whatever you wish! Best Lore wins a Research Credit! (Disclaimer: Best is subjective; it's plausible for both teams to win; or *neither*!) You have until formal contact with the enemy to finish! Though don't dawdle too much. Oh yes, make sure you name your faction as well! Unless you wish to remain named 'East Side', of course.

Design:
Noble Chariot's
One of the defining features of East Side's armies before the fall were the finely crafted chariots that they rode into battle upon, though they varied greatly from one noble to another they generally followed a template of two wheels with a standing platform that can carry three people the driver and two combatants pulled by a team of two to four horses. However some ancient records tell of more eccentric designs such as during the rule of King Tarentul and his Queen Nariz whose great chariot was pulled by no less then four massive beasts of burden and mounted a great siege engine on it which the King and Queen augmented further with there own substantial magical ability

The Laboratories of Life

The Eastern side of the former Grand Civilization was central to one form of magical study: The study of magical life and it's creation, and the modification of the mundane with magic. The Grand Laboratory of Life was the core of this practice, and from it's halls came the creation of magical warbeasts and superhuman soldiers alike. A creature's natural form became suggestion rather than law, and illness was a thing of so far in the past that nobody remembered. It seemed like with time and study, even the human form could be transcended with the grand magics worked in the laboratory. The sky was the limit (quite literally, for those given wings) and the civilization would reach for it.

And then came the fall.

Those in control of the Laboratories of Life did their best to maintain the knowledge, the magic, that had made the future seem so bright. But as centuries pass, scrolls and codexes fade and tear, the old enchanted apparatuses lose power, the magical creatures interbreed with their mundane cousins. The laboratories dramatically changed the makeup of the flora and fauna of the East, as it's products spread through the land, but that didn't increase the durability of the lab itself. But the true successors of the great empire have, against the odds, managed to maintain their grandest achievement to some level, and as we bring ourselves back to civilization our greatest scholars seek to reconstruct that which was lost. The laboratories will hum with the magic of life again, and our armies will break the enemy with control over life itself.

---

I'll work on a civilization proposal later. This is my idea for the tech, and I have others that I'll work on as well. The idea is that hopefully our side will start with some magically enhanced warbeasts or maybe even people.

I wholeheartedly approve of this.

Bonus is, we can go either plant or flesh focus!

This is great and will back it up. I'm already imagining a horde of abominations swarming towards the enemy...

Sarkicism is pretty neat, so I second the sentiment.

When you reply in this thread, try going into the 'Attachments and other options' stuff you can open up below where you type and make sure 'Notify me of replies.' is unchecked? That's my best guess at least.
