Nothing responds.

[Are you attempting illegal or otherwise forbidden modification of Empyreal Ground Army property?]

[Of course not.  I am merely attempting to establish appropriate authorization to ensure for continuity of command in the absence of the Empyreal Network.  As the last surviving Empyreal, I am de-facto the only officer in the army.]

[Punishment for illegal modification of Empyreal Property is the administration of pain for up to two hours depending on the severity of crime, dear Sadil. Please refrain from future attempts, or I'll be forced to administer punishment in place of a commanding officer. Thank you for your understanding. If you feel you've received this warning in error, please seek out a commanding officer or support technician.]

The suit feels...tighter somehow, just for a moment, before it once again seems to shift back into shape.

[Unlikely. The Endless Emperor is undying. As long as the emperor exists, so too does the empire. Further treasonous talk is punishable with pain. You're acting erratically, dear Sadil.]

What would you like to do now?

[If all Empyreal officers are deceased, what protocol is in place for re-establishment of proper command?]

[Improbable. Locate a superior officer for re-establishment of proper command. Objective parameter set is free until then.]

[That's all for now.  Thank you.]

Get out of the armor.

One more thing first.

Let's pull some glass out of the earth and just... play with it for awhile. See what shapes we can make. More manipulation practice is always good, and I'm curious as to how this armor affects more delicate uses of our power.

[sorry for the chain of invalid questions. Let’s continue training]

Practice controlling Overload

I would be fine with either of those.  Maybe we can mess it up by setting the time to the maximum possible, and then waiting a day?

Practice controlling Overload

Sure, this too.

Ehh... I feel like we're better off leaving well enough alone until we've a better idea of what we're doing. This stuff is dangerous, and it clearly doesn't take kindly to attempts at tampering.

Do it. Do it. Do it. Eheheheh.

[10+2] Extracting the silicon from the ground isn't as easy as you thought it would be, and it doesn't turn into glass immediately, but rather a glassy sort of opaque metal. This you manipulate for quite some time, roughly an hour, changing it into various forms and shapes, twisting it around, drawing it into circles. You feel like the more you manipulate, the less time you can manipulate it for. After that hour, you lose focus, and the material falls to the floor, solid, in the vague shape of a number '1'.

[-] You clean the training room as much as possible, and then move on to the target range. You receive a set of rifles from the Armorer, and begin to aim down the sights to the targets.

[4][3][14] The first two times, your Overload doesn't function, your mind drifting during important parts of the process. With a small frown, however, you manage to draw forth the energy from the cell and pump it through the reactor. This time, you focus more on the energetic pressure you place at the end of the gun to prevent the Overload from blowing up in your face; trying to redirect that to protect the weapon.

[10]Cleverly enough, if you imagine the barrel and lens specifications and replace them as variables for the Overload, as opposed to just not blowing up, you succeed in keeping the gun whole. The coolant system on the one you're using, however, rapidly overheats, and the lens cracks as it cools. After a quick inspection of the focusing barrel, you also notice hairline fractures that could, no doubt, cause serious damage if it continued to overheat.

You're sure the suit is helping you though, in some way, as you find you can focus more easily on drawing forth the power while focusing on the other mathematics required. You memorize the tricks its using, the shortcuts and substitutions so that maybe you can use them without the armor.

+1

After that, we'd better keep to Endurance practice for the rest of the day.
Aching brain damage and all.
