The King's Dilemma
Another Game from Tabletop Simulator, once again with slightly modified rules. If you know Haspens Spamkingdom, you will feel right at home here.
King's Dilemma is in its base principle similiar. Players are provided with a series of Dilemmas which they vote on. However contrary to Spamkingdom each and every one of the players will lead a House within the Kingdom.
The Dilemma lies therein that what is good for the kingdom is not always good for the house and vice versa.
The Kingdom of AnkistThe Houses and JoiningAs mentioned before each of you plays one of 12 Houses. These Houses are pregenerated with a series of goals. In here i will merely give you the Emblem of the House as well as the Motto, each of you who wishes to participate can make three claims. What you can do however is name your house and the characters you play in each generation.
Subsequently you will recieve a PM with a more indepth history of your house. If you choose to take that house you will recieve its secret goals and ambitions. Should you not choose it the House will be discarded for you and your second claim will be revealed to you. Once you have refused a House it becomes unavailable to you! Should the worst come to pass and you refuse all three Houses you will be put at the end of the player list and can make three more claims. Depending on how many interested players we have and how picky everyone is we will go through as many rounds of CHOOSE THE HOUSE as needed.

In Each of these iterations you will play the same House but in a different time period with a different character. The goal during each game is to aquire as many
Agenda points as possible, which determine the winner of a game. Furthermore you will also accumulate
Prestige and
Crave two resources which will be important for the ultimate fate of the Kingdom of Ankist.
During each of the Iterations, you will recieve secret agendas, which determine the "personality" of your current character beyond his long term goals in terms of his house. These secret Agendas help you gather Agenda points.
As the game goes on each Dilemma and each Decision benefits or harms the Kingdom. As such there are six statistics representing the Kingdoms State:
Influencerepresents the strength of the Army, the reputation in the eyes of other countries, how effectively law is enforced and the respect the people of Ankist have for your leadership
Wealthrepresents the amount of money in the royal treasury, the amount of luxury resources you have, the quality of life for the upper classes and your power to buy resources from other countries
Moralerepresents the happiness of your people, how positive they are about their lives and their condition, how much they believe in a better future and how much relief they can find in religion.
Welfarerepresents the health of your population and the amount and availability of necessary resources, like food and water. Its also the lack of maladies and the number of people in your kingdom
Knowledge represents the sum total of your medical and scientific advances, your capability of artistic expression and your knowledge of the past history.
Stabilityrepresents the equilibrium of your society. If Stability goes to high, interest groups gather too much power and may cause instability. If Stability goes to low, things are going terribly in your realm and well...bad things start to happen. You generally want that in the middle.
Beyond these there is also the two resources of
Power and
Wealth you will be able to aquire and expend.
Anyway lets get to the meet of the Game the Council Vote.
The Council VoteLets say you draw a Dilemma Card outlining that bandits plague the Road of the Duchy of Solad. You have the choice to expend the kingdoms resources to deal with this threat.
If you do so you will expend Influence in exchange for improving Welfare. At least that is the consequences of the choice you know. If you vote against using the Kingdoms resources, Wealth will improve but Welfare will decline.
Now each of you will have various reasons to vote for or against this seemingly innocuous proposal. Some might have a vested interest in not killing those bandits, others might have a grudge against Solad, some simply dont want to spend money on other peoples problems and so on and so forth. Some Houses might not even have a stake or interest in the vote.
Whatever may be the case, voting will consist of two phases:
1. BargainingDuring this phase you can openly discuss the Dilemma and make deals in regards to voting. You can freely pay other players in
Wealth to do a bit of quid pro quo. HOWEVER only if and when a person accepts that deal and the money is exchanged the deal is binding. Without money switching hands no agreements are binding.
2. VotingDuring the Voting Phase you have three actions:
1. Vote Aye and add Power2. Vote Nay and add Power3. Abstain and Gather PowerThe First two options are simple, you either support or oppose the vote and add Power. The Vote with the most Power wins. HOWEVER, the Player of the winning side, who added the most power gains the Leader Token, which has some various bonuses and problems assigned with it which will be explained later.
The Third option requires you to have at least one Wealth squirreled away. Instead of participating in the vote you will wait till the end of the vote to gain access to the power pool and thus increase your power.
At the end of the vote, the power pool is distributed, then the losing side reclaims their power wagered and then the winning side adds their wagered power to the power pool.
The Goal and the CampaignSo what do you do with all that accumulated Power and Wealth? Well depending on your secret Agenda, your open Agendas (which you will recieve for having been the leader on various Dilemma Votes) and your Houses Goals wealth and power and various realm states will net you Agenda Points.
Agenda Points, Crave Points and Prestige Points altogether determine the fate of your House and the Kingdom of Ankist at the End of the Campaign. Agenda Points on a more shorter timeframe determine who won a Game within the Campaign and who gets to marry into the royal line...which brings advantages all of itself in later games.
