Until now, I enjoy the side story. It's evident that a lot of efforts are going into its conception and the visuals are very nice. I observe however that the events are beginning to diverge substantially from the main plot, and to say right, I think that it's for the best if the side story continue to stay well separated from the adventure we are having with Flax.

I believe that it would help keeping the story all the more entertaining and avoid the appearance of too many inconsistencies. I already see one in the fact that the dark shadow of Crackantler was supposed to have been magically sent back to the realm of the dead when Flax attacked it.

and yeah, i know that the ᛃ Rune was a less than ideal choice. So there's an answer to one of your questions: I pick the runes pretty randomly.

I wrote that? Hehehe... That's fine, I'm not mad. But Yellow Pixel did point out a thing I agree with - any side stuff should stand on its own. Not completely, as that ain't possible, but it should keep distance from the pre-established stuff. So far it works, 'cause I didn't explore the spirit world - Strik3r did. It's a new thing, he's introducing something new, exploring something that isn't that much defined yet.

As long you don't delve too deep into the predefined, we're good, and it will work. If you cross the border too much, the world shall not end, I'll be just pissed off  . Also, since the adventure is truly diverging, it still needs to fit somehow in the overarching plot, and I guess I'll be the ultimate arbiter of that, thank you very much (when Strik3r cuts off his segment, when I'll pick up ToDW again, I shall seize all of his contributions, if that's okay. I hope it is).

Srick3r, I think you should take the time to choose your runes better, as it would only improve the quality of the lore.
Therefore, in my opinion, the ᛠ rune would be far better to symbolize the dark power of necromancy, especially since it is associated with war, and necromancers are warmongers in the DF universe.

So here's our first and hopefully last wall of text. I'm not proud of it.
But if nothing else, i 120% nailed Nami's characterization in this one.

Back to the game... Nami was sleeping. Oh, so she was a guardian of the desert rock, it all makes sense now! Jokes aside, we're being told some interesting information here but there's not much to work with, I feel. Therefore...

To begin with, the transmission of the power from a shaman to his/her successor is an important concept in real-life shamanistic societies, and also to be chosen by spirits. If I'm not mistaken, even that a divine being would be the first transmitter of the power is an existing shamanic belief (I suppose that Amena Theyiselma was some kind of magical deer man with a divine power). This would be indubitably perfect in a DF related universe, and it even fits with the Tales of Kudarkalur! (Amena could be some kind of Âsem that found a way to give his power to his deer men kin... Hehehe!)

But please Strick3r, don't develop the lore too far ahead! We should all do it together!

And by the way... I think it's time that I explain some of my own ideas:

Thus, while it's already becoming more and more evident in the story, I was thinking that the magic of Blackhoof should be directly related with the ability of giving life and bringing death, as it was considered an archetypal power of the deer in many places through centuries past. It's mostly because deers lose their antlers in autumn and they grow back in spring, but it's not the case in DF, it's already winter in the story and y'know... our antlers are cool! But they are also associated with the tree of life and to longevity. In parallel, the branches of antlers are symbolically compared to the rays of the Sun and it was an important symbol of Anglo-Saxon kings for that reason, but I don't want to delve into too many historical details...

Furthermore, since Blackhoof is already learning how to harness fire and since he engraved the Y rune (meaning torch) on the tree where he buried Crackantler, why wouldn't we link fire and death with the shamanic powers of deer men? You all know it fits in a world inspired by DF! So then, as fire is essential for survival in a country where winter seems to never end, it could be part of the faith of deer men tribes (and wolf men tribes too) that fire gives warmth to the blood, where the vital force is stored, wich concurrently allow the soul to subsist inside the body. It would at the same time largely explain how works the magic of the bloodbound spell that Elév proposed to Blackhoof to do with him.

The relation between fire and death would lastly come from the fact that when shamans bury dead bodies, they do so with the purpose of returning blood, heat and the soul back to earth, wich brings a natural cycle of renewal. But this is not all! As Blackhoof is wearing a necklace of shamans' bones, we are also aware that bones are very important to him, wich points to a fascinating connection with an additional essential concept of real-life shamanism. For you see, in many cultures with shamanistic beliefs, humans are considered to have more than one soul: one departs with death, but an other stay into the bones, and thus, there persists the physical and spiritual core of the individual and why not, the magic of shamans. Wouldn't it be great to somehow include the concept into our lore?
