Matt Fischer is fighting with a mostly healed broken collarbone. Due to his high pain tolerance, it isn’t hampering his performance any beyond making him more annoyed with the Liao forces than normal. The Iron Brotherhood deploys to the right of the town and moves up as a lance, looking to punch through the Liao opposition. A few hover tanks move up to engage them first, while the tracked vehicles roll through the town.
After making contact, the hover tanks began to fade back, hoping to lead the Brotherhood into the guns of the tracked vehicles moving up.
Both sides’ air support arrives at the same time, and a scrum erupts overhead as the fighters jockey to deliver their payloads or take shots of opportunity against each other. Meanwhile, the Kings are advancing grimly into the teeth of the Liao defenses.
Their supported Centurion scores a second kill, ripping apart a Hetzer a moment before Persaud’s bombs rain down on it. Undeterred, she comes around to begin strafing the Liao forces. Her wing mate, Thomas pulls her Sabre through a Hammerhead maneuver to fly after the remaining Liao Guardian.
Anti-air fire had dealt with the other Guardian and the MechBuster, and the Kings keep moving forward, now facing the Liao medium vehicle lance of Hetzers and a Tank Destroyer.
The Raider shows his inexperience by trying to move through a building. It collapses, destroying his ‘Mech’s left leg and he is forced to eject. Meanwhile, the Kings are fighting their way into the city, taking out the Zhukov and Predator in the process. The Liao forces are fighting tenaciously, but they’re running out of forces compared to the Brotherhood.
The PDF combines their fire on Knave’s Marauder, but despite losing a weapons pod, his furiously obscene gestures continue unabated. Reinforcements for the PDF arrive from the north, hurrying to support their flagging companions.
Disaster strikes for Ragu; a series of unlucky hits blows her Zeus’ leg off. She grimly attempts to stand with it, but despite her skill, hopping onto one leg is beyond her ‘Mechs capabilities.
Ragu continues fighting in her crippled Zeus, keeping the PDF’s attentions focused on her. The rest of the Lance moves ahead, fighting the reinforcements. The last Guardian returns to the field, chased by the Brotherhood’s Sabre.
Ragu prepares to punch out as the survivors of a Flamer platoon surround her ‘Mech, pilot lights flickering, but she fires one last round of autocannon fire at the crippled vehicles around her ‘Mech. The rest of the Kings have nearly fought free, only a Saladin and a damaged Saracen threatening them.
Ragu punches out, but the rest of the Kings are safe, with a clear run to safety. However, anti-air fire from the militia causes the Sparrowhawk piloted by MacCurtin to crash. Luckily, they punch out on time, and the Brotherhood manages to retrieve both them and Svetlana from the battlefield.
