Sorry for the delay folks.

The score is:

4 - For buying dry goods
5 - For careen onward into the sunset of starvation.

We go. Food has been set a tier lower, while the pace has also been set one tier higher.

Keep in mind if we all start to die horribly we could like, trade for dry goods.

Ah, now this is the Oregon Trail we all remember.

Ok so we made it the distance from Fort Hall to a single landmark, or around 50 seconds of real time gameplay, before total disaster. T'would seem we were unknowingly teetering on the edge of ruin.

We continued on for the space of maybe a quarter of a second, only for Urist's Twelvebay's woulds to become infected. We administered antiseptic. I forgot to get screenshot of this, as well as the "turn for the worse" he took right after. He was listed as "Near Death" for a time. Notable: If the main character dies, the game ends.

I literally did not have time to click "Oh no go back to the previous settings" before all of these things happened in succession. Settings have been changed to normal. As an emergency measure we rested for a solid 10 days until Urist Twelvebay's condition improved. He is still bleeding and in pain, but is not longer near death.

Spoiler: Not to be outdone (click to show/hide)

It seems that periods of bed rest improve health faster than a gunshot wound is able to kill a person. Therefore Urist Twelvebay's woulds have been cleaned and dressed and antiseptic applied to the would to combat infection, but he lives as long as we rest frequently. I've also traded for some healthy foods such as fresh fruits and potatoes and vegetables to give the best chance of recovery to all concerned.

We have been delayed into November as a result of frequent rests, though we have made some progress to another river. Winter is coming, though it remains warm for now. We are currently camped at Rock Creek. Due to all of the rest and fresh food, Morale is in fact somehow high, probably because we've been parked next to a river to delirious with fever and whiskey to have any idea how dire our situation is.

We continue to hunt in order to stockpile food for the possible upcoming terror that is a pack of 6 seriously ill and/or bleeding settlers in the middle of the woods in winter.

Extra Note: I just realized the only antiseptic we have is probably the whiskey.

HA!

I mean, get better soon.

Also, what is it with Birdvig and entirely non-lethal illnesses? Get with the program, cholera and dysentery for all!

Estrava basically saw the old Pepto-Bismol jingle and was like welp, gonna do all of that.

We've also reached another major fork in the road.

I believe both have rivers along the way, or, as I've begun to call them, "Cholera Highways".

There is no escape.

Anyway, Fort Boise it is, I believe. Anyone with objections should speak up, gonna update one more time later today.

I vote for the south route; it should be faster, let's see if we can make it before the snow flies.

To bring everyone up to speed, our current goal is to reach the Columbia River. We can raft down it to cut off most of the remaining bits of the trip. The other option would be to basically walk alongside it for a few months, during which time we will almost certainly die due to exposure or lack of food or some such.

We are a good distance away from said river, but rafting will basically skip time (there is a minigame we can all die in though) and land us right in Oregon with a short trip to town and the end of the game.

I looked it up and Fort Boise actually seems like the shortest route and it has a stop for things like supplies. I'm a bit worried still about Urist Twelvebay, as he has in fact been bleeding continuously and fighting of infection for something like 3 weeks now. We might need to buy or trade for medicines. Sleeping off the bullet holes is likely going to run us out of supplies in the long run.

They are in fact back to default, which is the maximum (Filling).

The pace has also been brought back to normal, which is a regular 8-hour day.

Now we DO have one of those :3

Anyway, I believe Fort Boise is the route we are taking. Everyone seems to want to take the slowest route, and the deliberately vague guide indicates that Fort Boise is the quickest way to the Columbia River.
