I haven't really made a case for Thin Men. But I feel they will never be a 5th wheel at any point in the game. They get shit done that needs finesse. And with Dinosaurs, Cavemen, and Smiley-don I think we could use a silver line of grace.

These are our inside agents, getting us new base locations and controlling nations at various locations.

Thin Men are definitely not a revision-tier action. We have nothing to revise them from.

A tricksy idea for terror missions I just had would be a cyber warfare specked out unit, one that can tap into the explosion of human Social Media images live of where XCOM forces are, as well as where civies are.

Just pour the batter into a mold. Their "thin" men after all.

Fine, I suppose we can wait. Don't need that many eyes...(I am still not sold this is a bad idea.)

The "Plasma proof Xcom armour" could be super high temperature ceramics and the like, which would likely not be that good against rapid kinetic impact, such as from a railgun.

So precious.

(Will try to calm down the memes. I...just thought I was going to wake up today to the depressing news we'd never have sectoids riding raptors. Now I am floating on air like a Ophanim.)

Fair point. But I'd be okay with them catching us out for a turn, rather than preempting a counter that might never come.

By the way, you might want to describe the Sectoid Mind Merge, if only as a formality.

Anyway, I'm going to put down my votes, although I could easily be persuaded to change them, and I'd like to see the Ancient DNA mission modified to be more clear about the upsides and downsides of Ancient DNA (dispensing with subtlety preferred but optional).

If we're going to raid for old DNA, might I suggest visiting Los Angeles? The tar pits over there preserved some really nice Smilodon bones that we could loot from the nearby museum. It should have some Mammoths, Dire Wolves, and a type of 900-lb lion.

I got so many new ideas for that design I was waiting on Mind Merge for with the Angelic Chorus ability proposed. May not even need mind merge to make it work honestly. Also;

Quote from: Mission: Acquisition of Ancient DNA Samples- Nukes variation
The life on Earth today is but a shadow of what roamed the planet in ancient times. Augmenting our forces with portions of Ancient DNA could make them considerably stronger and tougher than unaugmented forces, or those augmented with common or garden human DNA. The downside is that Ancient DNA is harder to acquire, and often damaged, meaning a successful mission may not result in as much usable DNA- but the added potency should make up for it.

Acquiring Ancient DNA does not require us to search for and excavate fossils, as conveniently the Earthlings have done so for us. Instead, this mission involves tracking human communications to determine where samples may be found- "Museums", "Universities", and "Palaeontology Dig Sites"-, then setting down and eliminating any local resistance, before bagging the bones (or amber, in some cases) and taking off again.
Because this version of the revision is better and I kinda doubt they're going to be merged considering that the strategies behind them seem rather different.

Also yeah, even considering making a completely new species using DNA we hardly even have access to as a revision is just laughing in the face of all things arms race and somehow expecting it not to strike you in the jaw.
