You decide to keep the Kingdom away from the internal conflict of Xane-Peon.
445 AEC, Winter
You receive news that Peonians have managed to capture several southern cities in quick succession, aided by the local populace and some symphatizing governors and garrison commanders. A large battle between Elea and the Regents ended inconclusively.
In the meanwhile, you fall sick. Your stomach started getting very upset as of late, and your urine stinks fouler than usual.
445 AEC, Few days later...

Fever sets in as your intestines rot while you're still alive!
You don't survive the night.
445 AEC, Midwinter
The court is in uproar, many of the noblemen shouting at each other and each demanding to be listened to. Obviously, the sudden death of King Iakes have left the Kingdom without a heir, and the succession crisis, so fast to occur after the last time, have demoralized the people. The potions and elixirs he was imbibing have sickened him, and ultimately, led to his untimely death.
The Advisor calls for order, but the noblemen are not listening!

First time since its creation, the council of Kastorian nobles is unable to solve its problems!
445 AEC, Late Winter
The war in Xane-Peon continues, and Kastoria is still without a King!
1
The court assembles in much smaller number as part of the once loyal nobles have flocked under the flag of elderly Duke Oro. The old Duke is wishing to put one of his grandsons on the throne, displacing Lycwyllian dynasty! Xenia, wife of late Iakes, have renounced her ties to the old man our of her loyalty to her dead husband. Nonetheless, he is now in the east of the Kingdom, gathering supporters and arms for the war he is willing to wage within the Kingdom's borders.
The Advisor shakes his head.
"Whatever have we done to suffer this much?" He questions himself out loud, and then addresses fellow noblemen. "My friends, we must decide quickly in whom do we invest the Crown of Kastoria?" The candidates are as follows:
Elea, who is still fighting the loyalist Regents of Xane-Peon for the throne of that Kingdom. Obviously, siding with her would turn the old Kastorian ally away from you.
Ixara, married to Menhael of Maellia, haven't been in touch with politics for almost a decade. Her husband is rather sickly, and her two sons are nearing adulthood themselves.
Matin, the youngest of Lycwl's children, married to Aguria, daughter of Duke Oro. The couple have distanced themselves from the traitor the moment he started his rebellion.
A) We must join forces with Elea! Only together we can bring peace to Xane-Peon and Kastoria in the same time.
B) We must call Ixara back to Kastoria. She's the eldest, has a husband and two children already, a perfect way to continue the dynasty.
C) We must put Matin on the throne. He might be the youngest, but he lives nearby, and speed is the essence, considering there's a pretender for the throne, too!
D) We should just give the throne and the Crown to Oro the Pretender, and be done with it
