: "They would be fools to try."

Hold position and guard the rear, unless automoves to end the map are permitted.

The enemy can't catch up!

~Map Clear~

"This is our chance! Birds, to the sky! Two riders on every horse! Everyone else, get on the wagon!" With the path ahead of them clear and flat, the horses were able to pull them all away from the laguz. Soon enough, the horde of laguz had faded into the distance, though the horses strode on.

"Quite a mess, eh, your Highness?" Steelhart's unconcerned call from the back of the wagon didn't seem to bother the Prince very much.

"I'm sure we can resolve it when we meet with King Himos."

Joachim chose instead to transform and run alongside the wagon, guarding it on the left side.

Milos was quick to jump into the wagon, catching his breath. While he was not excited to meet King Himos again, at least King Himos wasn't going to actually kill him. He sat upwards and took the time to catch his breath, looking at the wagon to make sure everyone was there based on Grae's orders— he counted everyone in the sky, on the riders, then inside the wagon...

"W-Wait! Wait! We forgot Joachim— he's not in the wago-"

Mid-panic, Milos had looked out the left side of the window to call out, only to see Joachim running alongside the wagon.

"Ah... false alarm... sorry..."

Joachim gave Milos a catty grin as he ran alongside the wagon. He probably ought to have got on, but he liked running. It was liberating.

Aya jumps onto the wagon, shifting back into human form. She wanted to check on everyone, anyway.
"Y'all make it out alright?"

Claire followed Milos' gaze to watch Joachim running as well, but was soon interrupted by Aya adding herself to the wagon's occupants... as well as the question she posed.

"We should all be fine, but the prince's men..." Godric might be helping to tend to those who were wounded, but she was almost sure that there were less men with the prince than they had started with.

It always seemed easy for Grae to address the prince, but she felt a little uncomfortable doing so, especially for a question like this. Instead she tried to catch the attention of a certain ranking officer and magician (who, as her mind helpfully thought to remind her, Aya had once thrown into a wall).

"Major Karachas... how many did you lose back there?"

The Major hadn't taken off his helmet following the battle, but it swiveled toward Claire. He didn't immediately answer, but, "...Davis, Miller, and Ainz. So three."

Outside the wagon, Ella pressed her head against Wolfgang's shoulders. "I'm sorry."

"As am I. I'm certain they understood the risk we were undertaking, but I would be lying were I to claim I didn't believe we could have avoided this."

Aurelia glided down a bit, keeping pace with the cart.

"Is everyone who made it ok? Losing three is bad enough, losing more to blood loss or infections would be worse..."

"They'll be fine." Some of the soldiers that had come along nodded, agreeing with the Major. One flashed a quick thumbs up without lifting his gaze from the floor.

Two days of rough riding followed. The wagon barely stopped for more than a half hour at a time, to give time to rest the horses as much as possible, and to dump healing magic into them to keep them on their hooves. The group wasn't subjected to another attack, but every rustle in the trees or stirring of the bushes startled the Prince's soldiers. Eventually, however, the group found themselves cresting a hill, beyond which lay the lake town of Mendisoro, where the journey, for the mercenaries and their laguz companions at least, had begun.

Even from so far, it was clear that Mendisoro was teeming with significantly greater numbers than when the group had last seen it. Even so, this was the last hurdle. The job was nearly finished. All that remained was to deliver the princess to the King. "Looks like we finally made it. Aurelia, fly ahead of us and let the King's men know that we're here, if you would."

"So many... Did father assemble a war party?"

"He may have. Perhaps Grae's men did not return you fast enough, and he intends to recover you himself." Steelhart made a noise, but the Prince ignored it. "We're here now though, so we should be able to stop your father from doing anything rash, don't you think?"

"I hope so."

"R-Right, going!" Aurelia said - she'd been a bit surprised by how many laguz were visible just from where they were. She took a running start and then took off, flying down towards the city to do as asked.

It wasn't a long way to go, and Aurelia was soon approaching the outer limits of the town. In turn, she was approached by three large Laguz men. "Identify yourself! Are you with those humans?" One of them, a bare chested man with long dark hair, pointed behind her at the wagon now slowly making its way down the hill. His associates, more modestly dressed, said nothing, but scowled at her anyway.
