dig sand pits and hide underground, dragging the enemy troops underground and force feeding sand to them until they suffocate
Best done in the cover of night, spend time preparing

Just a friendly note, but this game is intended to be somewhat realistic and grounded. You definitely can't do such thing realistically, so I'm sorry if I disappointed you.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"(5)(3+1 vs 1) The Sardinians were busy dealing with some opportunistic bandits, so they didn't have the time to repair the lever, allowing Vikings to enter the streets of the town. Still fighting lowly marauders and other scum of Medieval society, while also being under-equipped, the Sardinian town guards lose the fighting quickly and retreat closer to the main square. The losses among Vikings were minimal."

Make another push, and the town is yours to capture and loot. -1 heavy axeman, -1 skirmisher.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Unofficial slogan of Bay 12 Games.

"(4 vs 4-1) The Viking continue to push forward, and while the town guards are trying their fiercest to hold them off, they ultimately retreat inside the town hall, where they have a bit of an advantage when it comes to closer corridors."

-2 heavy axemen and skirmishers.

Don't kill the ruler capturing him was the whole reason we came here.

Keep killing the town guards and capture the leader of the town.

"(3 vs 6-1) The town guards were losing at first, but then, one of the nobles appears in the main hall, having some armor and a longsword in his hands, then commands and inspires the town guards to push the Viking back, outside the building. The Vikings suffer some losses, including some of the German elite mercs.

The Sardinians seem to be keeping a defensive position, not leaving the building."

-4 heavy axemen, -6 skirmishers, -2 elite infantry. The numbers penalty for the Sardinians no longer applies.

Is the town hall build from wood or stone? If wood I propose starting a fire to flush them out.

If stone, look for other doors and windows, so that our next attack can come from as many directions as possible.

Secure the edges of town. Ensure no one enters or leaves. They will starve

The Sardinians still have a proper army roaming the island somewhere, that could show up at anytime. It is likely bigger than our small viking force. The waiting game does not favor us.

"(3+1 vs 2) Tod commands his archers to ignite the town hall with their arrows, and so they proceed to do so. The wooden walls and roof are burning and cracking from the fire, forcing the Sardinians to come out into the square, (1 vs 3-1 for being flanked from everywhere) but they hold the Norsemen's assault, despite being overwhelmed and flanked from every side. Not many of the Sardinians are left, however, and they'll fall before the wrath of the northern warriors soon."

-2 heavy axemen, -2 skirmishers.
