The situation looks hopeless for our Viking hero. Should I just end the game the next turn?

"(6) Tod hacks off the lever, but his axe gets stuck in the mechanism. He tries to pull out the axe a few times without success, then a housecarl of his helps pulling out the axe. (Coin flip = Tails) However, the town guards are already here, so the only option that was left is to (6 vs 5) push through the guards, chopping off a few limbs. Ultimately, Tod and his housecarls have survived and leaved the city, but the Sardinians will probably pursue them shortly."

Successful escape! 3 turns until the fleet arrives.

Start moving toward the shore to meet up with the fleet when it arrives. Keep an eye out for good spots that we may use to hide from a large pursuit party, or ambush a smaller one.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

"(6) Tod and his housecarls have ran their way to the shore; they've shook off the pursuers for a moment, but now they're tired. One of the housecarls suggests to Tod to make a small camp in a nearby coastal forest, so that he could heal a gravely wounded brother-in-arms."

No pursuers now, 2 turns until the fleet arrives.

Agree with housecarl. A camp would be a good idea

Build camp

"(2) You move to the nearby woods by the coast and put down some bedrolls. Sadly, the gravely wounded housecarl didn't make it, as evident by the sudden stench of urine. (3) The Norsemen have packed their bedrolls, but forgot to pick up the corpse, resulting in a couple of Sardinian hunters finding the body during their hunting trip. They'll probably report it to the authorities."

5 (with you) housecarls left, 1 turns till the fleet arrival.

Dig burrows underground to hide from the fleet
It our fleet why would we hid from it?

Go find a defensible position at the shore and wait for our fleet to arrive.

"(2) Tod fails to find any defensible ground on the beach, but at least, his fleet has arrived at the coast of Sardinia. Sigurd meets up with Tod and says that the plan was 'risky from the beginning', though he admired his 'boldness'. Tod's warband unloads itself onto the Sardinian beach, ready for looting and pillaging."

((Sorry for the schedule slip: it was a bit of a wild day yesterday, and I also had depression episodes and slept poorly.))

The fleet has arrived! Sardinians will probably send an army to attempt to defeat you soon enough.

dig sand pits and hide underground, dragging the enemy troops underground and force feeding sand to them until they suffocate
Best done in the cover of night, spend time preparing

Lets go back to the town we were just at, kill their guards and loot the place.
