The transformation happens instantly and provides a message like werebeast transformations. Plumphelmetpeople are also aggressive against each other - should two get in a biting match, the game becomes unplayable as you constantly unpause hoping one will die.

Also, plump helmet men don't have mouths.

Sounds like the Fungaloids from Cataclysm DDA, which makes it a good choice for this thread as they are one of the most annoying enemies in the game.

Mushrooms replace water. Instead of rivers lakes and oceans filled with water, there are just...spores and hyphae. Due to this, the more that creatures drink, the more fungus like they become, eventually you lose control of your character and have to control the flight paths of spores to control characters
