Is there a way to make 'alcoholfall'
« on: September 01, 2018, 08:44:39 pm »

I have a tavern with automated mist generator. Mist makes Urist happy.A

But you know what would make Urist happier?

Alcohol Mist! Mist of finest rum!

Is there a way to make them? I know it is impossible in vanilla, but what about mod or DFhack?

IRL alcohol mist would likely kill you by burning your respiratory system.

yeah, take a good whiff of hand sanitizer, that's what you're suggesting

(don't actually do that)

also, unfortunately, no, even with dfhack or modding we can't really add new liquid stuff, though it is possible to create a sort of aerosolized drunkenness-causing material

Not for the first time, I really wish the poisons would work.

Well, considering the tavern is full of booze, months old  blood, and pus, and has very poor ventilation, I doubt inhaling rum would make it much worst...

But too bad even DFhack cannot help it.

Also, I'd really love/hate to see poison works. Love it because I could make my army/adventurer even nastier. Hate it because a scratch from goblin/kobold could be serious then.

You can mix contaminants into water though right? So if you took a normal waterfall but regularly dumped booze in it the booze should at least fall with the water. It wouldn't technically be booze mist but it would still be an alchofall.

If dwarves drink water that's laced with booze, does that fulfill their need to drink booze? Or just makes them drunk and just as frustrated at only having water to drink?

I would guess it fulfills neither their need nor their dependence.

I've tested. They do get the inebiration syndrome but they still grow slow due withdrawal. Sadly, you can't keep your fortress drunk off a single unit of dwarven unit forever.

Even if it didn't fulfill their need to 'drink', did they got joy from inebriation?

Oh yeah, plenty of joy. They were also displeased by drinking nasty water and pleased by well, so it seems like an overall positive experience at the time.

Toady nerfed inebiration though, and nasty water has been shown to cause at least 1 personality change, so I'm not sure it is happiness-positive to do with humans now.

So... Dwarves consider 'watered down' to be 'nasty water' and not true drink....

So, dwarves only drink shots? ...

Could an alcohol laced well force sick dwarves to drink booze? Would there be any side effects, besides the inherent murky water bad thought from drinking the mud also present on the bottom layer?
