You quickly turn the doctor's greed-filled eyes into tiny puddles of disappointment by stating you will not purchase genetic upgrades. After all the purer the line, the stronger the child's claims. The samples are processed, and the newly formed zygote is quickly placed in one of the artificial wombs. It will need some months to grow before your new child is born. You return to the palace with a smug look of satisfaction on your face.
After two days of travel, your flagship finally breaches the atmosphere of Myrea, the main inhabited planet of Ragnar's Lys system. From your side windows you can see the city of Grand Lys, the capital of Ragnar's realm. Its skyscrapers stretch for miles, yet it is nothing compared to the urban megahub of Nevo Koronn. Amidst the city however, a peculiar building stands. A gargantuan palace, built in Köningsheimer style. Around it, semi-permeable deflective shields are visible. A normal city would have them poised above the palace, and the rest of the city centre, to protect them from orbital bombardment and other airborne projectiles. Here, however, the shields diagonally protect the palace, and a small chunk of city around it. You are informed these shields are ment to divert any projectiles onto the city outside of the barriers. The Köningsheimers are a small elite of conquerors amidst a massive Lysian population that would see their corpses flayed in an instant. This way, Lysian terrorists, as well as foreign invaders, are disheartened from bombing the palace, showing how little this foreign elite cares for its people.
A: A valuable lesson! Tear down those old shields that protect my people, I want one of these around all my palaces!
B: Understandable, but cruel. I do not see the need to implement these myself.
