"Do the transports have a regular schedule? And if so, will it be possible we encounter one?"

"The transports do have something of a regular weekly schedule, according to what we have pieced together. It is not expected that you will encounter one of these transports outside the ones stationed there. Interesting question, and perhaps you should have a look at this to get an idea of what these trucks are." The NCO opens a wheat colored folder on the small table at the front of the room and retrieves a photograph.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"Our underground sources were keen enough to report track of license plate numbers, and as it turns out we've identified one of the transports at a local town about 400 kilometers off. Notice the WH designation on the plate, these are probably regular army units and we assume their routine schedule is to supply the facility with food and water and also allow small shifts of the garrisoned soldiers a few hours of recess."

"Have any of our intel managed to determine the location of the communication equipment within the building itself?"

"Disappointingly no. That is a matter of prime importance but none of our correspondences have ventured near enough to make that kind of discovery. It is assumed that the garrison will be able to report the assault immediately, though it will be ERAF business that even in the sour case you'll escape with your tails."

Phillip hand went up, he had a look of thought. "Do we have any intelligence on nearby enemy forces...close enough to respond I mean? The target does have it's own communications array after all, and who knows how many ways to access it."

"The nearest reserve forces comprised of mobile infantry units are a good bunch of hundreds of kilometers, meaning that if you keep your operation around an hour you'll be just ace. And even then!" He seems really excited to say this, "The English Royal Air Force will be launching its own sortie to tie up the units!" You've always suspected that your NCO an air enthusiast at heart. "I'd love to see that. The Goth's are in for a beastly surprise."

Madeline wiped off her Gewehr 43 one last time before stuffing it in a rifle bag. Sweet dreams.

Funny thing how she secured that weapon over more easily-supplied guns. A group of American soldiers had shared a tale from when they were stationed in High Gothia, during which one of them tried to tell a joke one of the locals had explained to him (Goths are known for being trigger-happy in that regard), which he recounted in a truly horrendous accent, although it was a joke she had actually heard before on one of her trips. When she corrected him what little Gothic, the soldier smiled and said she sounded exactly like a scrawny man he had met at the airbase before returning to the Commonwealth.

It'd been on her mind since. When in Roma, do as the Romans do.

The gun was accompanied by a bag of of 7.92x57mm, in which she also stuffed some white phosphorous grenades. Nasty stuff in those things...
Having eyed the burly orcs shadowing the party she figured that they were in on the mission as well. She slung a belt of .303 over her shoulder and dropped it off next to her gun before heading to the briefing room.

...

Madeline hid her scowl at the commander's enthusiasm. She'd seen airmen as the kind drawn to the thrills of egging the opposition with relative impunity.

"Not that I don't enjoy a good surprise," Maddie started, "But it seems too much like fish in a barrel. Have we any intel as to the location of nearby enemy units? It'd be just dandy to have them collapse on us as soon as they see the plane."

Final Loadout:
-Gewehr 43
-70x 7.62x57 Mauser
-70x 7.62x57 Mauser
-3x White Phosphorous Grenades
-70x .303 English

"Concrete, eh? No worries, I'll bring a big enough boom for that. Shame about our available launchers though. I like the bazooka well enough, but it makes me wish for something a bit more...meaty."

Loadout:
-Bazooka
-4 He rockets
-2 Heat rockets
-1 light demolition charge

Question: can we mix and match within a category. Say, pick 1 he and 1 heat rocket instead of 2 of the same kind. Or even 3 different kind of grenades in a single slot?

((@Pancaek Yes, you can mix and match but slot totals are rounded up (ex: 3 rockets = 2 slots, 4 rockets also = 2 slots). @Doomblade Knife, water, some snacks, basic belt kind of stuff you are assumed to have. Besides the knife, I won't be keeping track of them. Also, for now, magazines and clips just represent the maximum amount of rounds you can fire in a turn, for simplicity's sake I'm not ammo to be carried in the form its fired (i.e. drums, belts, clips, mags).))

"Concrete, eh? No worries, I'll bring a big enough boom for that. Shame about our available launchers though. I like the bazooka well enough, but it makes me wish for something a bit more...meaty."

The NCO chuckles, "Any bigger and you'll be wearing a whole new set of scars, Krilge."

"Not that I don't enjoy a good surprise," Maddie started, "But it seems too much like fish in a barrel. Have we any intel as to the location of nearby enemy units? It'd be just dandy to have them collapse on us as soon as they see the plane."

"The only enemy known units are the mobile infantry reserves that have about a 6 hour response to your attack location and would take even longer than that to complete a proper encirclement. Supply movements indicate no other forces in the area that could interdict the operation."

Your NCO looks at his watch, "Tell me when you're all geared up and ready."

I'll be exchanging 1 heat rocket for another he rocket, bringing me to 5 HE and 1 HEAT in total. Just in case some low gothic soldier gets a bright idea and brings an armoured car anyway.

Otherwise I'm ready to go. I don't have a lot of shots, but I think I can make em count.

Though a bit disappointed, Hans managed to cheer himself up. If the NCO is correct, enemy reinforcements will not arrive in time. Though there were no details concerning the objective's floor plans, he was confident that he and his team can pull through this regardless. Already, Hans was formulating the makings of a plan of assault, taking into account his team's loadouts and their specialties based on what he gleaned from their dossiers. However, until he see the battlefield for himself, Hans will keep his plan at the edges of his mind.

"Ja, I'm armed and ready, sir!" he spoke crisply, saluting.

Hans is ready for duty!

Phillip smiled. "Well if the little ladies bringing Willie Pete, might as well bring the smoke." He gives a thumbs up. "Good to Go!"

He fills his final slot with Smoke Grenades.

“All right then,” The NCO says. You all file out of the small room and head on out onto the airway. You notice that as soon as you step out of the vanilla air base office he lights up a cig. The air is cool and the sun sets under the dark navy skies. There doesn’t seem to be a cloud about this winter tonight.

“Chaps-“ the NCO stutters a bit, before starting again in a more confident tone “I guess this the last of my officership over you lads. Nothing stupid, Ok? That means I expect Krilge to come back with a full pair of eyebrows!

-er, and do the King proud!” He ends his awkward goodbye with a salute.

After saying your goodbyes you shuffle out onto the runway towards the looming red wing lights of the awaiting C-47. A serviceman in the basic tan base uniform meets you.

“Suit up!” You barely make out over the terrible rumbling of the planes Twin Wasps’. The serviceman directs you to a sprawl of parachute gear. You stuff your green berets away and trade them for the tighter drab beanies and, after some anxious wrestling with the blasted parachutes you find yourself seated in the roomy belly of a C-47.

Spoiler: Commando Uniform (click to show/hide)

Pretty soon you’re flying over Low Gothia.

“All right!” Your jumpmaster yells. The cabin fills with red light signaling that it is time to get ready for the jump. You all stagger up and attach onto the central line that spans the cabin; it’s so you don’t fall over.

“Go! Go! Go!” The green light comes on and you all one by one dive into the night. Your landing target is an open snowy field kilometers off the supposed enemy intelligence processing office, it’ll be a few hours hike and then you’ll be there. Then in a few hours more, in the morning, the ERAF will launch its search and attack operations against enemy reserves.

You land in the snow and with some difficulty make it to your feet. It’s time to decide the details of your attack. What direction(s) are you going to come from?

I’ve made changes to your gear (and to one of Divide’s skills) for balancing purposes. Also the fire superiority bonus is being lowered to 1.5. I’ll be keeping track of things in terms of balance as gameplay unfolds. I like to hear your guy’s concerns but let’s not bury any turn posts and also keep in mind I’d also like to make changes after we get a reasonable feel for the gameplay.

Spoiler: Rules summary (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Enemy compound: (click to show/hide)

Notes on the map: This is not a map based game. I'm not going to update the map with your or enemy locations. Instead, the map should just be a reference for the things I describe or for the very general locations of things like the staircase or entrances or windows. Also, you shouldn't talk about your movements in terms of specific tile spaces. For example, I might write in a post that 'three enemy riflemen appear at the second story right windows.' And you might respond 'Hans moves covers behind a tree within medium range of the front building windows and fires 10 shots at them with his Enfield.'

However, at times you may want to use the map to estimate distances for moving, range and explosive blasts but you shouldn’t need to often.

Enemy health total: 151, Enemy head count: 15 regular types, 4 special types, 3 officer types, 10 non-combatant types. Individual enemies do have individual health, so you can target and kill specific enemies, most types of enemies route/surrender when the ‘Enemy health total’ reaches 0.
Regular Enemy Ammo Count: 75 rounds 9mm, 240 rounds 7.92mm, 24 grenades 2 Panzerfausts. Regular enemy ammo is not tracked individually and can be used by any regular enemy according to what weapon they have. Killing enemies/looting ammo from dead enemies will not lower enemy ammo count but you'll still usaully be able to get ammo this way.
