Eheubryd was quite surprised at the work that was done, even the most minor of tests proved that this 'metal' was stronger then even the best flint that could be found. This had a slight effect on the kingdom, with those more prominent and skilled working to replace their tools with the newer stronger ones. Naturally, work on discovering if there was any major differences between metal's like the differences between stones would have to be done, but later. For Eheubryd felt it was time to work on one of the dream's she had a while back, she was going to work on and have her people work on better buildings to live in. Large buildings made of the wood from trees refined down into useful forms instead of their branches and mud. However, progress on improving life was not the only thing Eheubryd had on her mind, the way these metals where found where from strange reptilian people having such tools in their possession and because of this, Eheubryd believed these people might be more advanced and could possibly be a threat to the future of the kingdom. Due to this, Eheubryd had a few skilled hunters go out and try to learn more about these people along with most importantly not to be seen by those creatures. She would hope they would observe them like they would a deer, just without the firing the bow at the right moment part...

((Ooh missed the update))

The acid-maw tribe while still performing that magic crystal protection against chaos shall have the wise-lizards develop more effective forms of boats that can cross the great ocean more effectively compared to the previous generation

Viletooth shall than ordain Snapjaw the great warrior and leader of the last combat with the war party, and designate that him with the great spear and another two hundred shall begin their journey against the darkness, a light crusade if anything

With the aristocratic stock of Ertane having been emptied out, the acting council are somehow an even more pugnacious lot than their more pragmatic forebears, and with the disappointment of a perceived royal visit turned sour, their stubbornness hardens into spite.
The Iomeeran ambassador is informed that -being an ambassador- he can damn well go and do it himself. If he leaves now he may yet catch the Ertanian merchant fleet, which will certainly have more amenable ears.

As for the island proper, they begin trying to form a fish farm inland to see if it will help their food supplies any.

The dragon Ka'uratazun was not too surprised that the Air dragon was capable of using air magic. She was far from out of tricks to use, but right now it seemed more appropriate to just crush her enemies with raw force. She whipped her tail behind her twice, which would give anyone who might be trying to sneak up behind her a nasty surprise. She moved forwards ever so slightly, and pulled back her right fore-claw.

If you were to look for an Earth Dragon's weak spot, the legs certainly weren't it. Accustomed to holding up the full weight of an Elder Dragon that weighs more than a whale, these were some of the toughest limbs in the world. The thickness of the leg scales were second only to those found on the dragon's head and the muscle's needed to move such a beast were virtually unrivaled by anything else. These scales were virtually impervious to blunt weapons, and slashing weapons only fared slightly better. If you wanted to pierce a dragon's scales, a spear made of steel was the minimum you would need. Even then, it wasn't easy. Only the mightiest of people can drive a spear into the scale with enough force to penetrate it. If the shaft was made of wood, the shaft would give in long before the scale and if the spear isn't thick enough it would bend out of shape under the immense force. Then, even if you pulled it off, there isn't a single vital organ located in the legs.

The dragon's claw then made a horizontal sweep to the left in front of her. The entire action would take only a fraction of a second, but the sheer force behind it needed little explanation. Blowing away a floating sword made of gold is one thing, but a 60 ton Earth Dragon? Well, if you were an Elder air dragon, it might be possible to pull it off...

Initializing an effective counterattack against this sweep wouldn't be an easy task. Her head was lowered slightly to the ground and most of her attention was on the young air dragon. If that dragon made a careless move, then he would be struck by the force of Ka'uratazun's horns. If you thought dragonscale was sturdy, the horns of an earth dragon are on an even higher level! Used almost exclusively for fighting other dragons, they are the single hardest material on Ka'uaratazun's body. They are so dense, that if they were to hypothetically replace the scales of a dragon, said dragon would be incapable of moving. The only realistic hope of surviving an earth dragon horn bash was if the material that you are slammed against is less durable than you. Thankfully for other dragons, solid stone typically fell under that category. In addition to this, her left foreclaw was perfectly capable of responding to any foolish attempt on behalf of the furry creatures to close the distance, and her striking range was simple too large for conventional methods of combat such as spear circles to be effective against her.

The Nekohlin leader sits down on a fancy chair, shuffling some papers on his rather large desk as he prepared the final version of the speech that he was about to give about the direction that the Nekohlin will be heading in the near future.

The first thing that he was going to address was the childbirth mortality issue. Research was already in progress to determine the cause of this, but what was necessary right now was a solution. For the Nekohlin to grow to the point of being a major power in this world, the hesitation to become a parent was problematic in and of itself. There was no obvious solution to the 100 in 1,000 fatalities yet, but there were methods of cutting back on the 25 in 1,000 that is considered to be normal. To this end, the government would start hiring some of the Iomeeran immigrants to work as midwives and offer some financial assistance to expectant Nekohlin mothers in the hopes of reducing their stress.

The next subject would be the essentials for life: Food and Water. It wasn't a crisis just yet, but it was something that should be addressed sooner or later. In addition to the standard investments in agriculture, some of the existing farmlands should be used to cultivate new varieties of plants, even if they don't have as high a yield as the standard crops. The intention of this is to find some sources of food that are less vulnerable to the current blight. Food prices in the nation will be slightly increased so as to discourage unnecessary consumption. A resevoir should be established for the purpose of storing untained water for the people who need it the most. The general populace should be fine with the status quo.

As additional housing was not currently required, the labor that went into it could now be assigned to other tasks. Construction should begin on a port and a lighthouse on the southwestern coast. Mining operations would also be expanded so as to take advantage of the premium that the Iomeerans are paying for weapons grade metal. There is little concern about the possibility of such weapons being used against us as Iomeer was already powerful enough to overtake the Nekohlin if they had the inclination.

The next matter of business: some of the best available ships should be converted to merchant vessels, carrying a little bit of everything and sailing away to faraway locations in search of new trading partners. The government would be paying a very generous sum to anyone who brought back any previously unknown crops which could potentially be the solution to a future crisis. An unrelated expedition team would be sent to explore the archipelago just west of the mainland to search for exploitable resources, potential dangers and even possible city locations.

After proof-reading the speech one final time, he decides to omit the bit about Iomeer being powerful enough to overtake the Nekohlin.

The Lakami will continue as stated. We will not involve the Acid-Maw in our project. We shall keep the crown safe in a vault which requires multiple people to open. We will also attempt to pin reality in place around the door to prevent magical accessing of it.

Neriend shall continue to defend from the Messenger's spells, but will not go on the offensive.

Goltor
Your arcane eye peers into the depths of the mine, searching for any possible threats. You are met with darkness, which you cannot seem to illuminate regardless of what you try. Something is moving in the shadows...

Ka'uratazun
The Air Dragon leaps over your sweep, quickly propelling itself over you with wings and magic. It breaths a massive gust of wind into your back, while the small creatures stand back, giving you space to turn around without hitting them with your tail.

Lakami
You seal the crown away, producing five keys to open them, four of which are necessary to open the door. Your work is progressing in theory, but the practical side of it is held back by a lack of resources.

Acid-Maw
You have completed the magical barrier on the coastline, and it is holding steady, although you doubt this would remain true if the darkness were to reach your shores. Between the magical prowess of the Lakami, and the martial power of the Acid-Maw you believe that your alliance is incredibly powerful, but more allies would be necessary in the even of an invasion from that darkness. However, your scouts are reporting activity to the south.

Lakami and Acid-Maw
Something has been trying to communicate with the captains via telepathy, but the enchantments on the ships are preventing this. You are currently approaching the continent you were aiming for.

Qassatoughua
The enchantments on the boats have been foiling your attempts to communicate, and you are not too far from the continent. It would not be too hard to swim north and away from the shadows.

Ertane
The ambassador is somewhat bothered by the pettiness of the acting council, and takes his leave. The fish farm is underway, and will definitely improve the food supply.

Neriend and the Messenger
Your battle progresses, and Neriend begins to waver, weakened as she is by exertion and her injuries. Reality is beginning to warp, and threads are tearing in places under the strain the battle has placed on it.

Nekohlin
The leader's speech, whilst not overly stirring in it's subject matter is received heartily by the Nekohlin, happy at the efficient and methodical governmental policies. The port and lighthouse are rapidly completed, and the ships sail out into a wider world. The construction of mines and a reservoir is going well, and the incentives to have children, and the switching of crops are pending for results.

Llychlyn
You begin watching these strange people- They are skilled in magic and can create many interesting things with this "metal" currently they are working on large hollow wooden objects, and expanding.

Eheubryd was worried at the fact they where expanding, and thought that all efforts would be diverted to the ability to build with wood and stone instead of just mud and sticks should be worked upon immediately as it was a matter of extreme importance. If they where able to make the hill forts of cobbled stone and wood along with the long wooden houses that she envisioned in her sleep they might think of them as on their level in terms of tech and power, or at least give them a chance to defend themselves better.  A thought to send her best hunters who watched them before to go out and try and steal from the strange lizard and snake people came briefly in her mind, but she quickly disregarded it as the reptile people couldn't take hostile action against them if they didn't know they existed, and an act of espionage would not be a good first greeting if they where to get caught. Regardless, Eheubryd was restless and worked with everyone she could in the efforts to get the art of construction under way. Hopefully they would make good headway and be able to work on construction soon, and hopefully the metal they had would help in the progress that would be made, although it was unlikely it would do much other then the normal benefits tools made of metal had over flint.

Eheubryd wished her mother was still around right now, she was good under pressure and wasn't prone to worrying unlike her, and with her skills any sort of conflict that could brake out between Llychlyn and those strange people to the north would be less dangerous. But, now was not the time for wishes, it was the time for action, and to be a ruler. The least she could do was to try and act calm, for her people's sake at the very least.

Despite the fact that Ka'uratazun was still blocking the only entrance to her lair, the young Air Dragon was able to get past her in the moment that she lowered her head, despite the fact that she specifically did so with the intention of bashing him. The earth rattles as Ka'uratazun's horns crash into the ceiling in a mere instant after the intruder sped through the gap, and the solid stone above her did little to slow her down. Dust and rubble fall from the impact of the strike. The earth dragon appeared to be unfazed by the impact; as her horns, scales and skull were immensely tough. Earth dragons are particularly well suited to handling stones by their nature.

Much to Ka'uratazun's annoyance, the air dragon appears to have been able to escape. With an open sky above there was little that the flightless elder dragon could do to stop him. She would need to reconsider the setup of her lair at some point, but for now her focus was to prevent anyone else from escaping with any more of her precious treasures. Saxa cadunt, omnis homo moritur! she said. Upon doing so, some massive granite boulders falls from the mountains above her lair. After some rumbling and crashing sounds are heard, the boulder crashes against the ground in front of the dragon's lair. The intention of this action was to block off any chance for the remaining intruders to escape. There were a number of cracks in this defensive wall that a small creature would be able to slip through... Ka'uratazun did not intend to give them the opportunity to do so.

No longer needing to obsess over guarding the entrance, the Elder Dragon charged forwards to the middle of her lair, standing atop her bed of misshapen golden coins. As was mentioned previously, there was no part of the cave that Ka'uratazun could not reach with either her horn or claws. The dragon wildly failed about the cave, sweeping her claws and tail wildly at where she detected the intruders. There was no realistic chance that her attacks could be blocked; the only way to survive them would be to get out of the way and her strikes had a very long range. After the initial few swipes she charged towards the largest group of intruders she could see, twisted her body and then slammed her side into the wall, leaving a 50 foot wide imprint on the stone that she struck. This action would provide any survivors with a brief chance to try to escape from her lair before she started moving again.

Ka'uratazun did not like the idea of flattening her treasures which she tended to line up against the walls, but it was preferable to having them stolen.

The Ertanians start sending scouting vessels towards the mainland to see what manner of horrors they should be defending against.
Those at home begin fortifying the beaches and houses, preparing for a port invasion as usual.

Meanwhile, the refugee 'merchant fleet' has been sailing towards the shores of the Nekohlin.

Having a plan in place for most of the more pressing issues, the Nekohlin leader's attention is turned towards politics. He had heard very little from Iomeer since the mass immigration, which was a bit of a concern. A number of Nekohlin would be sent to Iomeer to investigate their current issues and political climate.

A trade wagon would also be sent to the Yinglets in the east, and in addition to that a couple of herbalists would be sent as well, who are instructed to investigate the food that the Yinglets have been growing and what they have been doing to deal with the blight, and if they even needed to deal with such a blight.

The next thing that he would focus on... Would be the construction of windmills, and not just a few of them. Unsure of how well the Nekohlin's luck would hold out in the long term, the new leader decided to invest in some simple means of automating labor. In addition to the standard millstone, he would have the engineers look into setting up new assemblies of gears to perform other highly repetitive tasks such as moving water, producing simple products from raw materials and whatever else they could figure out. If more tasks could be done via automation, he reasoned that the time could be spent doing other things such as hunting and foraging should the need arise.

It also occurred to him that the mages haven't actually figured out a solution to the blight problem, or even found a way to remedy things. He resolved to speak with them in person to figure out what problems they might be encountering and if there was anything that they might need to further their studies. He also considered ordering an investigation of the Mage's tower. He wasn't ruling out the possibility that one or more of the spellcasters were not acting in the best interest of the nation.

The leader then decided to take a trip around the Nekohlin territory to check out the smaller Nekohlin settlements that border the capital, to learn about the different issues that they are faced with, and compare the population density, infrastructure, standard of living, which professions are more or less common in the outer cities than in the general populace, and anything else that might come to mind. On a related note, he should probably get a cartographer to make a map of the nation and a list of the locally produced goods in each of the cities to help foreign traders find their way around.

The Lakami will continue their research and continue expanding. We will also look for stronger materials and look to enhance quality of life.

Neriend will create a defensive bubble around herself that pins reality in place so magic can't effect her.
